SOMETIMES BEING RIGHT IS LONELY "The striking members of the Writers Guild are disappointed they aren't getting more support from the supposedly pro-union Democratic presidential candidates. The bitter scribes say front-runners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are afraid of alienating their well-heeled supporters in Hollywood, folks like Alan Horn (Warner Bros.), Peter Chernin (Fox) and Bob Iger (Disney)…All of the Democratic presidential candidates have issued statements in support of the strikers, but only John Edwards has appeared in person to picket and speak with the writers…"

i'm playing the world's smallest violin for the writers right now.
I can't believe they expect the presidential candidates to have time to do more than acknowledge what is going on (oh wait, they think the world revolves around them so that makes sense then). There is war, the economy, health care, illegal immigration and human rights abuse going in the world, but first let's focus on the plight of Hollywood. That would go over like a lead balloon.
Maybe we are all better off with less shows on TV, perhaps the obesity problem wouldn't be such a problem if people turned off the damn TV.
"There is war, the economy, health care, illegal immigration and human rights abuse going in the world, but first let’s focus on the plight of Hollywood."
If the candidates were talking about any of these things that would be okay, too. Unfortunately they are talking about God and whether it was LBJ or MLK who did this or that…
Unions are important…even for seemingly frivolous jobs.
Maybe they're avoiding the whole mess, because of people like me, who want to disembowel themselves every time they hear the acronym WGA? In my mind it has transformed to WUGAAAAAA! every time I read it.
Unions are important, but can you really say with all the things going on in the world that Hollywood should have any mention on the pity list?
The candidates are talking about issues in a vague obscure way, but in no way does Grey's Anatomy have anything to do with universal health care.
The more they speak the less I care about them and their strike. People complain when stars speak about politics, they would hate it more if the candidates started getting involved in the writers strike.
As a country there are more important issues we want to know where the candidates stand. I could care less about where they stand on the writers strike. I'm sure when they campaign in California it will be a different story. But what do I care living in the middle of America? As a matter of fact I'm more excited about ANTM coming back and haven't really missed my normal shows. They were all starting to suck anyways.
juju where have you been all day you lazy hag? ;)
Friggin working. I think I should strike too. I even have to go back and work later. That will mean I will work 3 whole hours today. What kind of slavery is this? Let my juju gooooooo.
that is just wrong. how dare they make you work? the nerve of some people.
I could be doing something useful like fighting crime, curing diseases, or, posting here.
I've been getting in touch with my inner Betty Crocker (not to be confused with Chris). I'm attempting homemade bread. Mainly I ran out of bread and am too lazy to change out of my jammies and run to the store.
