FATAL COCKTAIL "'Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,' medical examiner's spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a news release." The ME found five different kinds of prescription drugs in Ledger's system.

"According to The Associated Press, the drugs are the generic names for the OxyContin painkiller, the anti-anxiety drug Valium, Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom. Hydrocodone is another name for ibuprofen"
Sounds like he was in pain, tired and had anxiety. Still the NY Times is saying the medical examiner ruled it as "accidental".

i can understand being in pain but anyone with common sense knows it's bad to mix so many drugs.

I agree, deimos - it seems like suicide, even if they believe he didn't do it on purpose.

I wouldn't be inclined to think it was suicide, because they are saying MINOR overdose - I would be more inclined to think he was having troubles sleeping, etc. and took a cocktail to pass the fuck out (similar to Mr. Lufti's miracle pills). Unfortunately…it was a bad mix.

Hmmm. And I was attacked on this very site for saying it wasn't necessarily an intended "suicide"…

No. 9 saddy-pants says:

when you take alot of drugs, prescription or otherwise, you can become fairly cavalier about quantities/mixing…your tolerence level prevents you from seeing true effects- if that makes sense. When the medical doctor prescribing these drugs has an equally casual attitude, you assume it is all good.
