Iraq the Vote

ABC's Martha Raddatz asked American soldiers in Iraq what issues are most important to them when looking at the presidential candidates. … PFC Jeremy Slate said he supported Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., because of his stated intention to pull out of Iraq right away. "That would be nice," Slate said, "I'd like to be home, yea."

SFC Patricia Keller also expressed support for Obama, citing his representation for change.

Only moments before speaking with ABC News, the troops had been listening to Vice President Dick Cheney give a rousing speech, but it didn't change their political preference.

Spc. Imus Loto said he supported Obama. "It will be something different. But he's out there and he'll probably support us a lot more."

Biased - STFU. You have no idea who we in the military support or dont. Not all of us are uneducated rednecks who are waiting for "the south to rise again". We are members of society before we are in the military, and therefore are a reflection of the many varied opinions therein.

What the military has taught this seemingly (to you) ignorant, rifle-toting, right-winged republican (I'm actually more of a libertarian) is that you shouldn't believe something until 10 minutes after it has happened. Don't whole-heartedly assume that because any of the candidates say they want us out of Iraq that it will happen. Less we forget, we still have troops in Korea, Germany, Italy and Japan. No, I have the feeling that we aren't going anywhere for a while, regardless of who is in office.
