HEARTWARMING "American Idol contestant David Cook will have a very special guest in the audience Tuesday and Wednesday night — his brother Adam Cook. Adam, 36, is suffering from brain cancer. … Doctors initially told Adam his condition was too delicate for him to fly commercially. But as news spread of Adam’s health and sadness over not being able to see David perform, friends rallied and were able to get him and his wife a chartered medical jet."

Kind of feel heartless, but I do believe America has a lot of sympathy voters, for instance when Simon unfairly criticises a contestant, the public vote even more out of sympathy or when he predicts someone is leaving, they double their votes in sympathy. So, I do believe it is unfair for his brother (who I do feel sorry for) to be getting all this publicity ensuring that we feel sorry for David, for what he is enduring, and therebyby guaranteeing that he will earn, especially this week, sympathy votes.
If he had to lose his voice, forget his lyrics, the public would still keep him in, because, he is under stress and what he is going through. What do we know about other contestants families. Brooke White also made sure we knew that she would be missing her sister's wedding, so it would be "wrong" to send her out this week, after the wedding, thereby ensuring her sympathy vote for this week too.
