TOO MUCH OF A KINDA GOOD THINGBritney Spears is returning to How I Met Your Mother, a source tells People. ‘The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. … She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more.’ The singer/actress will do one episode, the source says.”

No. 1 lale says:

You know, I’m sick of Britney’s “acting” gigs. In my viewing experience, girlfriend can’t act well, which is why her resume isn’t longer. The fact that she was praised for her performance says a lot about how peoples’ expectations affect their evaluations.

I went to college with a midge (little person), and she wasn’t very special in any one area. Except maybe sneaking peeks under our skirts or something- I don’t know. Anyway, it really pissed me off when people would treat her like she was seven, telling her she did a great job for stupid things. -True story: once I was in the library and she was on a Mac computer and put together a drawing of a snowman. This is a young woman in college, mind you. And while all she did - literally - was drop and click circles on top of each other, someone sitting next to her began to fawn about how awesome the picture was. What the hell? If it was my retarded nepphew, yeah, let’s make him feel good about his little triumph. But a “grown” woman making a snowman on a computer? You should be berating her for wasting her time on such nonsense. (Like my use of “grown”?)

We were also in theater together and, to my dismay, once had to do a scene together. While she mouthed my lines to me and gave a performance that would make Britney proud, she was again lauded for being so awesome. Please!

I just think that we need to let Britney fall into entertainment obvlivion, only to be remembered in the occasional crossword puzzle (3 Down- “Baby, One More Time” songstress”). I didn’t watch the show before and I won’t watch it now; I’m dismayed by the fact that so many of my fellow Americans tuned in. Did they not realize it was taped and there would be no vacant-eyed stumbling a la MTV Awards? The response to Britney is starting to serve as a metaphor for our country’s socio-political demise, which is scaring me. Either I’m going crazy or we’re going down. Or both.
