HE SAID, SHE SAID "Miley Cyrus is apologizing to fans ahead of the release of a controversial photograph showing the 15-year-old Disney star semi-topless in the new issue of Vanity Fair, on newsstands this week. 'I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be "artistic" and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. … I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.' Vanity Fair editors were quick to respond: 'Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.'"

I feel sorry for her. The pics are awful, and the "bed head-look like I just woke up from a drunken night of sex" look is what I think makes it MOST inappropriate. But why does everyone think you gain the ability for good judgement when you grow up in a bubble…
And the Press is going to be talking about her, and showing her photos on the evening news, and discussing her movie and her television show and her CD's for WEEKS. How tragic for poor Miley Cyrus!
PS to admittedlyaddicted: this wasn't the poor judgement of a fifteen year old; it was the calculated ploy of her forty-five year old father. Children don't negotiate interviews and photo shoots with Vogue Magazine on their own.
You hit the nail on the head jbonz - they knew exactly what they were doing.
Destiny Hope returns!
Actually her parents weren't on the set all day. They left before the "topless" shots and when Miley's handlers protested them, Annie Leibowitz pushed them into saying they were "artistic."
I think her parents are using her, but this isn't like their normal actions with her at all. I think they all learned not to leave Miley alone at a photoshoot or sign a release until they've seen all the photos.
I feel like if she were a model, instead of a tween role model, most people would be okay with these photos. I would certainly not let MY daughter do this, but then again she is going to have no social life until she is 25. At least she didn't decide to take some more trashy pictures for my space, they make me want to kill myself in the face.
touche jbonz…I guess I just assumed that my sassy ass would have said something at 15 if I didn't like it or felt like it was going to be a mistake. Unfortunately for MY child, I tend to hold people somewhat accountable for what happens; it's not ALL her fault, but she's old enough to think things through. ESPECIALLY, since she just dealt with a scandal about some pictures. Lessons, people - let's start learning them.
She is such a good kid… so far. People need to give her a break.
Why is she even in Vanity Fair!?
Both pictures are unnecessary for a 15yr old girl.
And the one of her & her dad is extra creepy.
ewwwww

Fair enough. Some kids have the cojones to stand up for themselves. But Miley has gotten where she is thanks to Daddy's ambition and I suspect she was inclined to trust his judgement (at least until now). But if she hasn't thought for herself before now, she damn well better start. Her keepers are screwin' the pooch.
When is she going to apologize for her singing career, I am still waiting on that one.
Bull$hit!!
She's "embarrassed" about these photos? What about all the other ho-bag photos that have been released? Please.
