YAY OR NAY? “Comedy Central has greenlighted ‘The Gong Show With Dave Attell,’ ordering eight half-hour episodes of an updated version of the classic talent show to premiere July 17. The series — from Sony Pictures Television, Happy Madison Prods. and executive producer Andrew Golder (NBC’s “Identity”) — will feature offbeat acts judged by a panel of three revolving celebrity judges. A talent search is under way. … Holly Jacobs, senior vp syndication and reality at Sony, called ‘Gong Show’ an ‘iconic’ format … Added Attell: ‘Stars will be made; feelings will be hurt.’”

Damn, I thought at first that said Dave Chappelle. (you guess I need glasses) Now that would be funny.
Dave Attell is very funny. Will the judges be drunk & coked up like the original?
We can only hope, gayledi.
On the last show, Dave should sing Take this job and shove it as a tribute to Chuck Barris.
They should also get the women from Have you got a Nickel to be the first act. Being that they were the final nail in the coffin for the first show, it seems only fair to let them open the new show. For those of you who have no clue as to what I’m talking about, Google it.
I remember watching that. They sucked on popcicles. Popcicles. Provocatively in a quasi-sexual manner.
But we were all polite back then about that type of activity, back in the day, and it was on prime time TELEVISION while the children were still up.
I remember how we all thought, and said out loud: No, they didn’t mean it like that. Oh, YES they did. Oh, GOOD LORD. NOW WHAT??!!
It’s all pretty funny, now that we have Madonna.
I was referring to Have You Got a Nickel and they sucked on popsicles in a provocative way. Before primetime was ready.
I am glad that Keeblerkahn brought that up.
