JUSTICE SERVEDNick Bollea was sentenced to eight months in Florida’s Pinellas County Jail for felony reckless driving Thursday after pleading no contest in in court. A judge also handed down five years probation, 500 hours of community service and a three-year drivers license revocation. Nick will not be able to drink for the duration of his probation, and will attend DUI education classes within one year.”

Did anyone else think that was completely inappropriate to have Brooke address the court? I watch court regularly as part of my job and in no way is the sister of the defendant ever called to give her opinion about the offense.

Okay, so he’ll be able to drink underage after his probation is over. Whew! I was worried for a second there…

He gets 8 months because as a result of his drunk driving one boy will basically be a vegetable for the rest of his life. I think he actually got off rather easy, especially since he probably won’t spend the whole 8 months.

I would have killed him myself if he did that to my son. Hulk’s family ought to be ashamed of themselves. I hope the victim’s family sucks them dry in civil court.

Ok so I just watched a portion of the case on tv and I have to say. What the fuck. 8 months? The dude is a vegetable like Eliz. said. A friend of mine said “yeah but the family is going to go after money”! That wont touch Nick…..he doesnt have the money. No wonder Hulk was pleeding in court. Fuck.

I have also never seen the defendant have a family member speak at sentencing; it’s almost always the victim/victim’s family.

I think he got off ridiculously easy. The boy in the car with him might as well be dead. Given his history of reckless driving you’d think that they would have been a little tougher on him.

No doubt he’ll eff up his probation though.

He got off easy. With good behavior and depending on the over crowding issue, I’d be surprised if he serves more that 3 or 4 months.

At the very least they should have sent him to prison to serve the time, not the county jail. He basically killed someone. I know, the guy is still alive, but he would be better off if he did die in the crash. He is going to live out the rest of his life in a manor I would not wish on anyone.

Agreed, Keeblerkahn. The courts need to consider the deterrent effect of sentencing in cases like this. Nicky’s sentence doesn’t send a strong enough message to all the young jerkoffs - er, I mean street racers - endangering lives.
And the “no contest” plea pisses me off. “Guilty” would be owning up to the crime.

Maybe he’ll involuntarily become someone’s bitch in county. Either way, I think it should have been more like 8 years. Lest we forget, homedude (I already forgot his name) who was on Prison Break got 3 years for killing someone while drunk driving.

No. 11 just me says:

A friend of mine got 6 months for a 2nd DUI in 5 years. No accidents or injury so I think Nick should have got a much longer sentence. He had already had several tickets for driving over 100mph and is only 17yrs. old! Plus he was racing and had alcohol in his system.
