IT WAS JUST A DOG "Tori Spelling's beloved dog Mimi LaRue died Tuesday of natural causes at the age of 11, the actress tells People. 'She was a star and a true lady, and she will be missed greatly,' says Spelling. … 'I'm convinced she waited around to make sure I had the daughter I always dreamt about before she left us. … She was not just a dog but a fashion icon and legend amongst Hollywood dogs.'"

Obviously she is speaking of her pug. People treat pugs like little dolls to dress up. I have a pug and I too would be soooo sad if she died. But since my pug is not a fashion icon or a legend amongst Hollywood dogs, her passing would only be known by the lack of snoring in our house. Those dogs can SNORE!!

Whitney you must not be a dog owner or you wouldn't say "It is just a dog". Our cat just recently got run over and all of us including my hubby shed a few tears. My daughter cried for 3 hours inconsolabley. He was a very cool cat. RIP Mimi!

When it's your pet, it's not just a pet. It's that quiet being that loves you, is always happy to see you, and never talks back. I'd be a wreck if something happened to my dog or cat.

pp, my sympathies, it's a hard thing to go through.
my mom was inconsolable for days when her first cat died.

I know it's her beloved pet and all, but does everything about Tori have to be front page news? The woman seems to hold a damn press conference every time she farts.

Oh trust me, I feel your pain. I have a cat myself and I am obsessed with her, to the point where all my friends know me as the crazy cat lady. She is "vacationing" in Texas with my family right now (I've been traveling a lot), and the three weeks apart has been very sad and lonely. I've admittedly shed some tears.

So I totally get treating pets like children — I am just as bad as the next person. But the quotes she gave were weird. A fashion icon? Really? And she stuck around just to make sure you had your daughter? Bizarre. Like I said, no judgment from me when it comes to loving your pets, but Tori is plain crazy.

I'm sure the dog wasn't picking those outfits out. I recently got a chihuahua/terrier and I love that little bitch like crazy. She was a rescue dog and I had no intention of getting her but she kept doing all these tricks. She's an attention whore. I can respect that so I got her. She's a sweet little girl. I couldn't imagine her gone now.

I've actually missed school and work when a pet died… it's just as bad as a person dying. Do i think those things Tori said are true? no… but is her loss just as real as anyone elses? Absolutely.

Tori's like the girl who cried wolf. Every little thing in her life is such huge news that when something that acually is sympathy-worthy happens, I just don't care.

She’s a legend amongst Hollywood dogs.

Was her dog the first to pee on a fire hydrant or sniff another dogs butts? Those dogs were legends.

With all due respect to PP and the family's loss, I must say thank god this Mimi dog died, because I cannot stand the fact that I know her name and actually thought to myself, "That's Mimi LaRue," when I saw a picture of the family for their show's new season. Seriously. The day I think to myself, "That's Mimi LaRue!" is the day that Mimi LaRue must die.

pp, I'm so sorry! My dog was at cageless boarding while I was out of town for a wedding this past weekend, and she stepped on a piece of metal and had to get 10 stitches in her foot. When I found out what had happened, I burst into tears because I wasn't there for her when she needed me. I always refer to her as my "dawghter."
