They were all drunk. They won't remember it today. Or maybe they all headed over to the Blarney Stone.
Wait. That was Dublin, Ireland? Right?

We were going to tell you Queen, honest. It was supposed to be a surprise. Way to go Bob.

After what they did in Michigan, I have already kissed the Democratic Party party goodbye.

Ok, not that I don't think Obama is going to win (because it's painfully obvious to all that he will), but the two party system in our country is ridiculous. If one of the parties doesn't dissolve, then perhaps another one should be admitted and given the same respect that the others do. If you consider yourself an independant, libertarian, or worse….green party, you are ostricized and can forget about running for office unless you capitulate to one of the two primary parties.

As Gore Vidal has said, U.S. politics is dominated by one party with two wings - conservative and reactionary.
Of course, Redford's being silly. The Dems surely don't live or die on the electoral performance of one candidate.

I disagree Blah, I don't think it's painfully obvious he will win. But that's probably my wishful thinking ;-) I'm a registered Libertarian that also recognizes the futility of our two party system (on that, we CAN agree).

I love it when celebrities get all high and mighty and use false and silly threats to get thier way. Susan Sarandon threatened to move to Canada; I say go for it! You're not a national treasure or anything.

Jesse Ventura was on the news the other day because he's considering running for Senate. His whole thing is that the two party system is antiquated and is ruining our county for thier own selfish purposes. I don't know if I'm voting for someone known as "The Body", but he raises a valid point.

Hey, "the body" was a pretty damn good governor from what I heard.

After watching the race for Democratic Nominee for the Presidential contest this November, i have changed my party affiliation from Democrat to Independant. I will never again consider myself to be a Democrat. Strange as it may seem, this entire process gives off the appearance of being "pre determined"; altho i know this would be impossible, too many individuals would have to be in total agreement for it to be so. Barack Houssin Obama only has to show up to become President of the U.S. it seems. Sad day for a once great nation. There was no , nor has there ever been a true contest in this process.

I agree. It's all very presumptuous. Still, I think it's hard not to be when you have a president that has the lowest approval rating of any sitting president. Historically, second-term presidencies have never gone well anyways. They've always been to the detriment of the president and the nation. He should have got out before EVERYONE despised him.

When you get right down to it, both parties are a way too high and mighty. Take a look at Ross Perot. He's a self-made billionaire so despite his appearance, he has to have some sense. He was very concerned over our nations deficit at the time, so he concentrated on that (yes, I remember the stupid pie charts on Larry King). In order to deflect, both parties ganged up on him and made him look incompetent; thereby securing a disdain for a third party in mainstream politics. Instead of using him to help move money around and possibly improve the economy, they made him look like a fool. He was not a politician; he was merely someone who thought that he could make a difference. If nothing else, he should be applauded for that.

Blah, you wanna get married? ;-)

I will admit I voted for Bush the first time around, come '04 I too was just as frustrated, confused, and disgusted as the Dems. That's when I changed my party affiliation, and voted for a third party candidate.

The amount of money that is spent on this election circus, on both sides of the aisle, is appalling to me. The great things we could do with those millions of dollars, to improve our country…oh well.

I know. I love it how you have politicians vying for your money over the internet to help pay for thier campaigns (and thier campaign debt) as people struggle with gas over $5 a gallon in some places. It's insulting given the fact that Hillary and Bill Clinton have earned over $100 million dollars in the last six years. The audacity to ask middle America to pay for your debt is mind boggling.

I did'nt know the Irish get a vote in the American elections but if I am wrong I doubt whether they are going to vote for Barack…unless he changes his name to Kennedy…Mc Cain is a much more Irish sounding name . Robert Redford speaking to a bunch of pissed up paddy's is not going to determine who wins the Presidential election..it might have worked for the Kennedy's but Hussein is definately not an Irish name.

just a random thing I thought I'd mention in case anyone is interested…here in Spain, gas costs, roughly, about 7.66 American dollars per gallon.

Since when are celebrities anyone anyone should listen to? Since when are they Mavens about anything, except maybe film making?
Jesus, they can't even get THAT right? Why can't they figure out what people want to see at the box office?
Anyway, Redford doesn't know shit squat about the Democratic Party, politics or the American people. He's speaks only for himself.

I am probably the least politically-literate person… but I am still confused as to why we have political parties. Does it really matter if you are Rep or Dem? what ever happened to picking the candidate who would do the best job? regardless of affiliation?

Kate, you have to give people the illusion of choice, so they feel free. It's how to run a country.

Speaking of, does anyone know when I can expect to get the French Freedom that I requested on the Monsieur R post? I paid extra shipping costs and everything. Fuckin' I'GIA.
