MILEY CAN'T QUIT WHILE SHE'S AHEAD "[Miley] Cyrus is rumored to be interested in the lead role in Undiscovered Gyrl … which would be that of 'a lovable, lost suburban girl who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity.' The source says if Cyrus did take the part, you’d be seeing a lot more of Cyrus than what appeared in the Vanity Fair photos. 'There would definitely be nude scenes,' says the source."

Well, legally she wouldn't be able to do such a role anyway. This sounds like bullshit. However, I imagine that Momma and Poppa Cyrus would give their approval, given that they already pimp her out anyhow ..
This will never happen for several reasons. First, Disney would never allow her to take a role that damaged her good girl image, her leaked photos not withstanding. Second, say what you want about Billy Ray, I don't see him oking this. Last and most important, she underage. If she did do the movie, where do they think it will get shown if there is nudity from her in it. This is just a way to get people to talk about her.
I don't think so Alice. She is a gold mine built on a clean Disney image. They can still ride that out a few more years. After she turns 18, all bets are off.
I'm with Keebler - exactly. This is garbage, she'd never take the role.
What is wrong with people these days? I was 15 13 years ago, and I guess i was just behind the times, because i was still a virgin, i didn't party or do drugs, and i sure as hell wouldn't be naked in some made for TV movie. Is this the only way these young girls think they can get noticed?
I agree Keebs. I was just trying to be humourous. As usual, mission failed.
Oh, look at Kate, sitting on her cloud of judgement. Yeah, no one was having sex, doing drugs or starring in nudie movies in the 90s. Where have the good times gone?
I missed that. I was 15 almost 15 years ago. The odds are pretty good that I was baked and having awkward teenaged sex. Life is like that.
I'm sorry i must have missed something… I was talking about my own naivitee at that age Another… If i'm judging young girls in the media these days, shame on me. They're slutty.
I don't know that young girls are any sluttier now than they've always been. It's just a matter of visibility. We're seeing more stories and pictures, but girls are as they've always been.
In a way, we handle it better now. Used to be that young girls had no birth control and were sent off to unwed mothers homes and magdalene houses.
Nowadays, our young women are on the pill and use comdoms. They're more open about their sexuality and such. But the behaviour is the same. We're just not stamping them with scarlett letters anymore.
I grew up in the 80's and things were pretty wild with the people I hung out with. We just didn't have digital cameras and cell phones to document it all. Back in the olden day when dinosaurs roamed the earth before myspace and facebook. Kids have always been kids, it's just easier now to get busted.
Don't worry Kate. I was like you in my teens. Not to say I was totally naive about what other girls were doing, I just wasn't interested in being like them.
And just as there are as many "slutty" girls "out there", there are just as many who aren't. So I don't think it's right to paint all teenage girls with the same brush. Not everyone was getting their groove on at 15. It's just popular culture that likes to focus on it and sexualize teenage girls because it's scandalous and sells magazines and etc. And it seems the media is just picking on younger and younger girls, which I think is harmful.
It just seems like such a different time. I hear stories of 4th graders giving BJ's on the school bus and thinking it's the same as kissing. Sex has become something so mainstream in today's youth. It may have been there when i was that age, but I sure dont remember it. I'm not saying no one did those things, but it seems to be so rampant now.
I'm sorry. Does anybody remember Pretty Baby or Blue Lagoon. Endless love, anyone? All Brooke Shields movies, weird.
I have had plans for 5 years to rent Endless Love. Blockbuster wouldn't order it for me :-/
How could they not have that movie? It's kind of their job to have all movies.
They have a big phone book looking thing that lists movies that were made…. we found the listing in the phone book but apparently it was just too much for them to bill-and-ted that sucker to their store.
How old was Brooke Sheilds when she filmed Pretty Baby?
I'll save you a trip to imbd
She was 12, and the year was 1978. She played a child prostitute.
She did Blue Lagoon in 1980. She ws 15. Blue Lagoon was a very sexy nekked flick about young love on a uninhabited/deserted island.
Please. Miley is nothing new. Lolitas have been around for as long as there have been teenage females.
Brooke Sheilds is a 43 year old woman today. She turned out ok.
If I ever get to sit next to Brooke Sheilds on a flight to somewhere, I would wear her out with questions on how it felt to work that closely with KATHY GRIFFIN. Brooke is a lucky woman indeed.
i blame al gore. if he had never invented the internets, kids would be able to wear their promise rings and have buttsecks the way the good lord intended without fear of ending up on youtube.
I was reading the comments, but then my pussy feel asleep. Does that happen to anyone else's vagina?
Oh, I didn't mean that as a diss. I mean, my vagina is actually numb.
And I think it's important that you all know that.
OK it may be going a bit far to say Brooke turned out "OK"… but with Miley, well…it's Britneysville for her.
Disney has been grooming sexuality under the guise of family values since waayyyyyy back in the day.
Remember when Annette showed her ankles? What a thrill that was. Now Miley, Christina et al release a single called "Gaping Butthole" and we barely blink. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE, PEEPS.
I saw some E True Hollywood Story or something like that with Brooke Shields. She had a falling out with her mother who was her manager at the time she did those inappropriate movies for someone her age. The falling out happened when she was a bit older and felt like her mom had pimped her out.
Oh and Brooke Shields dated Michael Jackson in her youth. If that doesn't scream messed up, I don't know what does.
Oh and on a similar note. How come we don't put this much emphasis on male teen stars and sex? Nobody has a countdown clock to when the "it" boys reach legal age. Or "reporters" asking them questions about their virginity as much as they do the young teen female stars. Or if they'll do nude scenes or pose naked in Playgirl. I never see any crotch shots of the boys getting out of cars. Where are my crotch shots?! I think the only racy photos we get are when it looks like the famous boy may possibly be behaving in a "homosexual" way or what the media deems as gay and controversial.
Rumour has it, I think we don't see as many photos of underage boys in gossip rags is because those rags are generally written for women. I don't personally know any women that are into underage guys.
Generally, I think that if they showed pictures of underaged boys, people would think the mags were rather pedophilic. Is it a double standard? Yes. However, I think that teen boys look their age, most teen girls look older. So, some of us can't tell the difference between an underage girl and an of age girl
As long as the value of a man's stock in society is based on power and wealth and a woman's stock is based on youth and beauty, squaky-clean teen stars will eventually go the way of the dodo bird. The sexy, sexy dodo bird.
Alice and Killorn, I think you missed my sarcasm. I just wanted to point out how ridiculous it is the emphasis we put on teenage girls sexuality versus teenage boys who have the same star status.
P.S. Not only ridiculous, but unfair and harmful as well.
I really wish there was an edit button after submitting a comment. Or I could just take the time to re-read them.
Sarcasm is sometimesh hard to convey through the written word.
I'm really looking forward to the next Britney Spears album.
I was being sarcastic and such … could you tell? I find writing so limiting. I might do an audio blog or something …
No, I got the sarcasm, I was just expanding upon it. Women don't go all wonky in the pituitary over hot slabs of teen boy rump roast (or would that be veal?) because our value systems are different. Men want to conquer, and women want to be conquered, and I generally don't get that conquery vibe from the packs of howling, skinny, saggy-bottomed, wife beatered gold chained little punks that I pass by in the mall. Now, If a 14 year old boy were to wax poetic about fiscal responsibility and sub prime indexing, well, color me Letourneau.
color me letourneau.
brilliant.
Even if the 14 year old boy we're bringing a Bill Clinton-esque speech, I just couldn't go there. I mean, do 14 year old boys even have hair on their nutsacks? I want a man, with a man body and all the requisite man hair. I'm looking for a guy who's at least 30.
No. 29 Alice
"Generally, I think that if they showed pictures of underaged boys, people would think the mags were rather pedophilic."
It bothers me that people (mass majority) don't think pictures of underage girls aren't pedophilia as well.
Killorn;
First off, kudos on the Letourneau zing.
"Women don’t go all wonky in the pituitary over hot slabs of teen boy rump roast (or would that be veal?) because our value systems are different. Men want to conquer, and women want to be conquered…"
I know women don't, and I don't think men should go all gah gah over underage girls either. But our society for the most part accepts it instead of teaching males (like they do females) that it's inappropriate to desire children/teenagers.
Oh, and by the way, I don't want to be conquered. We're falling into stereotypes here about men and women based on old concepts, which were developed by men.
I didn't say that pictures of underage girls aren't pedophilic. I just said that if they posted pics of boys, that wuld be thought of as pedophilic. As I said, it's a double standard.
And, for the record, I do want to be conquered. Weekly, if possible. I'm the tough, dominant woman all week. I don't have to be that way in the bedroom.
As long as Disney still makes a mint off of gender roles with every one of their "family values" vehicles, I think it's safe to say that while the stereotypes may be old, they are still very much alive and kicking. The only female empowerment shctick that has been deemed palatable by pop culture standards have been the Spice Girls, so there you go.
And it was palatable because they were hot. Go figure!
/off to burn my bra while crying and reading "Our Bodies, Ourselves" while The Hills plays in the background.
I keep it as real as reality television, my babies.
