Like you said Whitney, it's about time. Although with something like this they usually wait until after it is all over and the gymnastics are done, the closing ceremonies are this weekend so the results will come out after it is all over.

They prefer to keep scandals on the DL until after they are done.

They should have investigated this before but I really don't know what they can do considering the entire country is covering up their age.

Truly great countries don't have to try to convince the rest of the world of their superiority by cheating at the Olympics. If China wants to be respected they cannot do things like this. East German Olympians became a bad joke after everyone found out about their government-sanctioned cheating, and I wouldn't want China to be viewed with such disdain. I don't "blame China", I blame their government.

Sadly nothing will come of this. It's not just the Chinese gymnastics team doing it, it the Chinese government backing them up with fake papers and passports. There may be no real was to investigate this. The Chinese won't come clean on this, they have too much to lose. At best it *might* keep them from pulling this again.

The IOC need to look into the judging for gymnastics because there was some funky shit going on with the scoring.

GOOD! Liukin deserves that Gold medal on the Uneven Bars, that 14 year old who tied Liukins score should give her the Gold medal she stole from her. Those Chinese girls were good but come on those girls are still young and can compete in the next Olympics

Yeah, I saw that! I felt so bad for them, it was sad when they showed Spearmon's reaction, and when they interviewed him afterward, he didn't even look at the interviewer or the camera. And then those who did win the silver and bronze felt they didn't really earn it. There were no winners. Except Usain.

sorry, that unnecessary comment was at whore.

and yeah i'd be PISSED if someone dq-ed me for something so silly. did the interviewer not grasp that? i guess it's always been a rule but they only enforced it then. you're right even the silver medalist mumbled "well i still lost" when they congratulated him. what a way to ruin a race.

About effin' time they get this crap under control. They lied about something as trivial as the child that sang the anthem in the name of "national pride", whose to say they wouldn't do it again when it came to actually winning? I just hope the IOC isn't full of people from countries like Sudan and the like that are getting kick-backs from them, or this will never be resolved.

Honestly, this is another reason why it pains me to watch the Olympics. As much as I love them, I hate what they have become. It's all promotional Wheaties boxes, endorsements, cheating, poor sportsmanship and government cover-ups. I really wish we could just watch the games and for the sake of the game itself - not all the hoopla that surrounds them now.

How come it's okay for younger athletes in other sports? There were 14 year old swimmers and divers competing.

Injuries apparently. I didn't know other sports allowed 14 year olds. That's weird.

The reason that there's a minimum age for gymnasts is because the average age was getting way too low and there was no career past fifteen for gymnasts.
