WHAT'S BLACK AND WHITE AND NEW? Saw the new movie Lakeview Terrace last night, and I liked it. Too few films have explored the dynamics of interracial relationships, and even less have taken a serious look at interracial relationships between white men and black women. There's also a fire metaphor. Kudos!

Is it really good? It looked kind of one dimensional in the trailer. I really want to see a GOOD movie.

It got a 5.6/10 on rotten tomatoes… but I'll check it out if you recommend it. It's gonna be hard to get a friend to go with me to such a poorly-rated and sparsely-marketed film, though.

I'm surprised you thought it was good, too, Cord.

the trailers make it look SO contrived.

I mean, really…is it possible for a cop to get away with such shit? wouldn't a simple call to the media (or internal affairs?!) do the trick to get this guy?

when I saw the trailer, the first thing I thought was "this could NEVER happen".

I am surprised to hear someone likes this movie.

I thought it just looked like a bunch of stupid suburban neighbors arguing about the placement of shrubbery.

I'm a huge Samuel L. Jackson fan, but watching the trailer for this one did really do anything for me. I'll probably watch it on DVD later.

Wow, I totally didn't get that it was about interracial relationships from the trailer. It looked to me to be about someone getting pissed off and terrorizing their neighborhood. Granted, I mostly tune out commercials so it could be that Samuel L. Jackson plays a drag queen obsessively stalking her former lover who just happens to be a one armed, fiddle playing country music hall of famer with a speech impediment and I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Happy to hear Cord liked it; I've been a Patrick Wilson fan since he was in HBO's Angels in America and more recently in Little Children. I trust Cord's review over Rotten Tomatoes, frankly.

I've seen the promo and it seemed really idiotic. I don't see how Evil Black Man (and LAPD officer! Jackpot on a–hole meter!) attacking the BW-WM couple explores this sort of relationship, but perhaps the promos are misleading. I like Samuel L Jackson and Kerry Washington is my fashion idol, but I have no plans of ever watching this movie.
