The Good Guys

Alec Baldwin took to the highbrow nursing home that is 60 Minutes last night to discuss, among other things, that notorious voice message in which he called his adolescent daughter a "rude little pig." With narrowed eyes, Baldwin told an old, old Morley Safer that though he is sorry he left the message, he is "pretty overwhelmed by the sanctimoniousness of people." It was a quiet exhibition of the unflinching honesty and unwillingness to bend to public outrage that will ensure this guy never, ever wins the public office he seeks.

I said some things on the other Alec Baldwin post: Easy Transitions. So really, I am spent.

Just so you know, it's a very good thing that I didn't interview him. I would have been harder on him, because I have been through it and I know he is copping out.

I'm not buying his mea culpa. He tried to place blame elsewhere.

We, the parents of divorced children, know how it feels when the child is at the other parent's house.

Depending on the maturity level of the other parent, they may encourage the child to push the buttons, and shows the child some buttons to push that the child hadn't even thought of yet.

    Unfortunately I have been there.

We know to just to go ahead and get off the phone.

(I have a couple of baby-daddies. My favorite "other parent" backs me up, and I back him up. Just because we don't want to be a couple doesn't mean that we aren't good co-parents.)

If Alec Baldwin can't even figure that out, how can we trust him in some sort of office.

Alec Baldwin didn't sound smart to me.

If anyone EVER talked to any of my children like this, I would have released it to all who cared to hear it.

This is unacceptable. If he can't even control his temper with his own child, no matter the circumstances, do I trust him in a public office?

    NO.
