'Who Comes to Speak for the Skin and the Bone?'

Dear readers, while getting very, very drunk over this long, long weekend, remember whose time you're on. More than a break – and god knows he deserves a break – the working man deserves your respect and acknowledgment.

We're cutting it short today to get a head start on squeezing the last bit of summer out of this quickly chilling city. If you're in Brooklyn, come buy us a drink at Rosemary's RIGHT NOW! The rest of you: don't get hurt out there.

Cord, you may think I'm bitchy at you sometimes, but really, I adore you. I just like to be fiesty now and then. I'd totally buy you a shot of whisky (the good stuff too…you're only as nice as the quality of liquor you serve).

If I was in Brooklyn, I would totally buy you drinks. More than the 3.50 styrofoam cup of Bud, too!

It's my birthday this long weekend. I will pour one out for all my homies, and one more for the working man. I may pour them out directly into my mouth, maybe via funnel, but the fact remains that they will be poured.

You know what I like about Cord? The way he can be such a dick sometimes and still appreciate the dickiness™ (yeah, I made that word up) of others. Have a couple of shots of Grey Goose on me.

And happy b'day, janice!

Thanks! I just now realized it was Labor Day weekend. I was searching for hotel rooms for a spur of the moment trip and couldn't figure out why they were more expensive than normal. No, I'm not oblivious, why?

Gawd Cord! You could have given us a little more warning. I know quite a few people that would have made a point to be there. Whatever.

Oh, and Cord, I used to be a member of a Union (IATSE Local 600) and Unions aren't really for the worker. They're for the Union. Solidarity is a good thing, but in my opinion, Unions are not.

Sorry. I'm cranky. (See above post.)

mae-

"Once a regular old-neighborhood hangout, this congenial bar has been steadily usurped by the cool youngsters who pile in every weekend. White Christmas lights and strings of seasonal decorations create a festive spirit in an otherwise plain room, which is furnished with red booths and bar stools, and a jukebox filled with rock-and-roll and retro standards. Despite the changes in clientele, the biggest draw remains the 32-ounce Styrofoam cup of Bud for $3.50"

ilz- stalker! just kidding. i was not referring to that particular establishment. i was speaking as a brewed alcoholic beverage connoisseur who associates with like-minded individuals. we would never drink beer from a styrofoam cup. why? because after a few that cup is going to be punctured and/or destroyed rendering it useless as a liquid receptacle.

Oh, I have HAD A BEER!!!

mae, you are right. ABSOLUTELY right. (Hey Absolut! You see that shout out right there?)

But, after I am two sheets in the wind, all I care about is getting that third sheet up and flying high.

I've been known take the styrofoam cup at that point. I have no sense of decorum once I am two sheets to the wind.

I might be there right now.

mae- It's true. I am. But I just know of Rosemary's because my friend sent me pictures of it this week. She's going to NYU.
If she sees Cord there I will die of jealousy.
