Queen Insults Your Sense of Reality

queen

Page Six reports today that overrated photographer Annie Liebovitz flustered Queen Elizabeth II during a recent photo shoot for Vanity Fair, upsetting her so much the Queen lurched off the set as quickly as her age would allow.

"…when [Liebovitz] asked Her Majesty to doff her crown during a photo shoot. A BBC documentary, "A Year With the Queen," shows the monarch storming off after Leibovitz sizes up her formal regalia and says, "I think it would look better without the crown, less dressy." The queen retorts: "Dressy? What do you think this is?" She walks out grumbling, "I'm not changing anything, I've had enough, thank you very much."

You know what else would be less "dressy"? Getting rid of a whole gaggle of pampered figureheads, but that would be harder than prying the Crown Jewels from the stiff, Anglican fingers that clutch them. Nice try, Liebovitz.

She should be thankful that Liebovitz didn't ask her to pose in a milk-filled bathtub, a la Whoopi Goldberg. Now THAT I would like to see! The whole "royal" thing is a pretentious, antiquated institution that in my opinion, serves no purpose.

Let us not forget HRM leadership, courage and strength in staying put durning the bombings and going among her fellow Brits.. helped win the war and kept the Brits free from commie rule.. and she's not above putting some plebian weirdo photo gal in her place as well as keeping her loser older son from wearing the crown.. And she was right.. the picture without the crown was universally panned as awful.

no thats true! shes also a mechanic in ww1 she served as a mechanic for the troops with all the other women in the country against her father's wishes.

i really like lilybeth (her family name- we are that close you see ;-) ) Shes a strong woman who means a lot to her country. Poeple in britian love her, they want her to stay queen until she dies not give the crown over to her son (which would be reasonable she turned 81 this year)

Yeah, Liebovitz sucks. I know people who worked for her and none have anything nice to say. My aunt also once saw her push an old lady out of the way to get a cab, I shit you not.

Why on earth would you want a "less dressy" photo of the Queen anyway? WTF? If she's wearing her crown, she obviously wants a formal shot.

    Annie sucks.

Uh, the President of Ireland is directly elected by the people of Ireland to represent them abroad and at home. Presidents of parliamentary republics are not simply born into wealth.

And, in fact, a majority of Britons now wish that the UK could become a full republic rather than hold on to this archaic system, especially after the queen dies.

It's funny that Americans, citizens of a former British colony that rebelled against the monarchy and hold no loyalty to it, are so enamored by the queen. It does explain Paris Hilton's fame, however.

the president is a firgurehead in ireland with almost no REAL powers.. just liek the queen. she may not be elected or choose to use the little power she has but the power in both counties lay in the hands of the prime inister and parliment.

both serve as representations of the people.. only the queen is not choosen.. but the british love ehr as the irish love their president yet niether can really do anything but stand there represent thier people

my point was that the british arent the only poeple with figureheads in their government. not that hte irish president is born into welth and thierfore president.

the american people arent enamored by the queen but many respect her. I dont think its wrong that people respect the "figurehead" of another country… in fact i think it best. I dont agree with monarchy on principal but i respect the queen of england for who she is and what shes done. Just as i respect the president of ireland for what she means to the poeple. Just as i respect the president of the us for who he is to the country even if i have issues (in some cases MAJOR FUCKING ISSUES) with all three of them.

i think its funny that poeple call americans self centered and uncaring and a whole slew of other comments and then come out with crap like that.

Statements like above belong on the bbc message boards not a FUCKING CELEBRITY MESSAGE board. Thanks for being a hypocrite

I guess your first mistake was to have the gall to mention Americans?? God forbid… :-) You made a very valid point, at least the so-called Irish figurehead is voted in, and only for a seven year term. Unlike the monarchy, who are there ad infinitum, and simply by accident of birth.

I applaud the Queen for outliving her douchebag son. Dressing down was never an option for this family, for God's sake. Take a look at some of the old pictures of her Grandmother, Queen Mary. NOW that GAL liked her diamonds, and lots of them goddamn it! You peasants need to be reminded of your place, which is WAY down the food chain from us Queens! God Save ME!
