Critics Again Overpowered By Commercials

Despite early reports that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the newest film in the famous franchise, is a mediocre effort, Hollywood insiders are expecting the film to break box office records.

”Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” opens on Thursday, May 22 at 12:01 a.m. (midnight Wednesday), so this will make for a huge opening day, which I am projecting in the $41 million-$44 million range (that includes the post-midnight Wednesday screenings). Then Friday should be $32 million-$34 million, Saturday will likely tick up to $34 million-$36 million and the Sunday leading into the holiday will be on par with Friday. With a Memorial Day Monday of $22 million-$24 million, I am calling for a five-day gross in the $162 million-$172 million range.

As four-day Memorial Day weekend grosses go, “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will likely be the all-time second- or third-best in history. If it reaches the high end of my five-day range, the new Indiana Jones movie has a chance to become the all-time No. 1 five-day opening in history …

Explain to us again why movie critics have jobs? Oh, that’s right, they don’t!

Sure it will do well on opening weekend. People have waited along time to see it and we will all rush out to watch. Look at all the insanity that surrounded Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Then look at the disappointment a lot of the fans felt. This movies real test will be the second weekend it’s out.

Anything that fans have waited so long to see is bound to disappoint some of them. People aren’t waiting for a good Indy move, they are waiting for the BEST Indy movie.

It will do great. F the critics. You think Lucas and Spielberg, well…ok Spielberg would let a stinker through the door. It will be entertaining, throwback Indy fun.

Early reviews from people who may or may not have seen the one super secret screening done by studios where they had to sign away their life that they wouldn’t talk about it until its release?

Or the screening in Cannes that hasn’t happened yet?

Even if it is the worst of the series (which I highly doubt considering it took this long for them to all agree to a storyline)it will still be INCREDIBLE!! Its INDY! Forget about it!!

I DO know that the “Indiana Jones” is a great ride at Disneyland.

And we are going there soon.

We may go to see the movie so the ride will make more sense. (for the younger faction of my family. I only go to matinees. I am a cheap ass.)

(Also, at Disneyland you have to stand in a very long line-unless you go during the fireworks show-that’s what we did last year.)

Human Amusement. We’ll do what it takes.
