Hollywood Knows Politics

Because everyone should base their political preference on whom their favorite celebrity is voting for, a bunch of famous people showed up in LA to support Barack Obama. So if you love Private Practice, you know what to do come election day.

If the Patriots win the Superbowl this weekend, the victory parade is scheduled for Tuesday, which is also when primary voting is scheduled to occur. Originally officials thought they should postpone the primary voting until Wednesday, until upon further consideration, they realized that with all those people drunk and in the city, they'll most likely have the highest voter turn out in the history of the Commonwealth.

    Ah politics.

Yeah just a popularity contest. Support the man whose resume makes him unqualified for the job. There were so many other democratic candidates with more experience. Besides most celebrities barely have a high school education.

Ugh, I wouldn't go so far as to say Obama is unqualified, but can't argue that he is certainly less experienced.

Ugh, "experience"? Doing what? IMO, this country is better off not having the same two families in the White House for 3 decades running.

Especially given the way things are currently going. I know Obama hasn't given much in the way of a steady political platform, but his platform of "Change" isn't necessarily a negative thing.

Agreed, maria. There's something about the passing back and forth of the torch between the various Bushes and Clintons that is very unnerving.

At work the other day, we were bored and screwing around, and we did an experiment. Most of the people/Canadians we asked could immediately name the top 3 candidates for Dems and Reps, but couldn't name the leader of every Canadian political party (there are only 4). Your politics are so much more scary and glitzy than ours–people are so much better informed and care more about US politics than almost any election here I've seen! Probably cause we're afraid we'll be screwed by proxy if the wrong guy gets elected.

Haha, EsM, I have a friend who cried for a full day, the second time Bush got elected. She was convinced the apocalypse was coming. It's also funny how interdependent our economies are. Well, okay, I think ours is a little more dependent. But all this dollar-parity-insanity is going to cause a lot of trouble here, economically, in the next couple of years (even though it's awesome right now, for online shopping). And the housing crash in the US had serious economic repercussions here. It's definitely interesting to be a spectator to an election like this, because even though it might affect us, we have no control! I think that's partly why some people are so riled up about it.
