racism will continue to exist as long as we have shit like this. We can't have "black blogs" or "latina blogs" or "white blogs"…..it's segregation. once we learn to stop seperating ourselves like this maybe the world will be a better place. i'm not saying anything….i'm just saying.

Do you (deimos) mean that linked site (may be) is shitty? I find there to be nothing wrong with focused sites: Shakespeare, Toni Morrison, parenting, country and western, etc. The problem comes if people can ONLY recognize themselves in a specific group (e.g., Italian) without navigating within a larger group (e.g., American).

It is the exploration–and cultivation (key, key, key) of cultures with an end to contribute to benefit of a neighborhood, community, city, state, region, nation, world that makes this American life lovely.

Granted, the idea of nation-states within the current climate of globalization is pretty much non-existent.

um no not really. most mainstream blogs ARE white blogs by virtue of of living in a society where white people and by extension white culture is valued higher then others.

There is nothing racist or wrong with expressing one's cultural identity, especially when that identity is generally ignored, degraded or, when visible, exaggerated and exploited.

It is very easy for white people to claim that any special interest blog/tv channel/etc is racist, but of course they'd be wrong. Just take a look at the supposedly "neutral" things out there. that's right, they're pretty much all white, save for a few token characters.

that said, I like the new blog and the editor's style. It has been added to my list of work-avoiding activities.
