Bill Clinton went off on an Obama supporter who interrupted a speech he was giving in West Virginia yesterday.
With the support of a cheering crowd, the ex-president shouted down a silvery, batty old woman who attempted to declare that, as First Lady, Hillary Clinton didn’t work for universal health care as hard as she and Bill claim.
Of course, the woman deserved to be silenced, because she doesn’t really know what the hell she’s talking about. Now, had she screamed, “You would have had a better chance at getting everyone in the nation health insurance if it hadn’t been for your shady-ass real estate deals with the McDougals,” then we might have gotten somewhere. Isn’t it funny how the loudest ones are usually the dumbest ones, too?

But she “remembers it for a fact!” It must be true.
Just like I remember for a fact that I didn’t go to the bar last night, drink my body weight in cocktails, and sing Kokomo at the top of my lungs to my closest friend. I remember that for a fact, so it obviously never happened, despite evidence to the contrary.
janice, you and i are on the same page. except it wasn’t kokomo, it was Taking care of business and American Woman.
Damn those raspberry kamikaze’s!
Yeah, it’s wrong to say HC didn’t do hard work on the health care file back in the mid-90s. So it’s fair to say the heckler seemed dumb and batty.
But what’s beyond batty - what’s just plain batshit insane - is that Ayn Rand-type segment of U.S. society that opposes universal health care as an infringement of personal freedom. They’re using a crazy philosophy to justify letting people die for lack of medical care.
Nice, mae! I hope you also did the crazy American Woman dance. People looove the dance. Or at least, I remember for a fact that they do.
Preach on Run-DMS, you’re right.
If you want to see people die from lack of health care, go to countries that have nationalized health care. They actually do die from neglect. Be careful what you wish for. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. If ignorance is a bliss then I see a lot of happy people.
Cord called ths one wrong, much as I love him.
HC spoke publicly and worked privately to defeat the lone UHC bill that came up during her husband’s presidency. Neither of them grew up poor, underprivilieged or marginalized, nor did they bother to learn about any income, culture or race bracket besides their own. And unfortunately they did’t grow up with common decency either.
Using their positions in the White House to make themselves and a handlful of others privately wealthy and corruptably powerful did little to pave a path for future political success.
Taxpayers were strapped, and all of us were stripped of our rights to due process with more prisons being built during Clinton’s sitting than now.
Remarkably, he was able to pardon many middle class and connected criminals while burdening the poor and working poor with fewer resources and reduced legal aid.
Before you speak, keep in mind that any retiring first lady or president can access a senator’s seat. Remember, she announced her intention to acquire her senatorial posiition before leaving the WH. A genuine run, without the clout of the presidency, offers a much more accurate glimpse of a person’s worth (read value to the AMerican public). Hill and Bill are clearly baffled at the American taxpayers refusal to back them.
We all pay taxes with each legitimate purchase we make, and we all pay through the nose when health care isn’t available and affordable. Everyone in America should have the ways and means to protect their health, work, and contribute.
Mr. T, I live in a country with universal health care. What you say is bullshit.
You must be very blissful.
This country will never have universal health care as long as the corporations that make billions of us are allowed to buy off politicians with ‘campaign contributions’. Not to mention and the way they scare senior citizens with the threat that they will lose their choice of health coverage because the big bad GOVERNMENT is going to pick their doctor for them.
Do people fall through the system in counties with universal health care? Probably. Is the health care of it’s people better off for having universal health care? Yes.
It has always seemed to me that the only people who don’t want universal health care are the one’s that make all the money because we don’t have it and the one’s who don’t do their own research and just believe what they are told.
I don’t expect my opinion to change anyones mind. But don’t try and tell me giving everyone in this country a base level of health care is a bad thing.
Mr. T, I also live in a country with universal health care, and I also call bullshit. If you want to talk about dying from neglect and lack of treatment, you need to look within your own country.
“Be careful what you wish for,” fine, until you get sick and realize that no one is going to pay for your treatment. Here, when you get sick, you can actually worry about getting better instead of whether or not you’ll be able to afford your next doctor’s visit.
The whole “grass is greener” argument is just some pat slogan pushed around to prevent people from really considering the fact that they should have a right to health care, no matter what their circumstances. It’s amazing the lies that are told to make it seem like universal health care is a bad thing…
Just don’t think that universal health care comes for free. If you want it fine, but be prepared to pay. And you can all say bring the troops home and we can use that money, but people who live in the real world know that it won’t happen quickly enough to fund universal health care. Higher taxes on all of us INCLUDING the middle class.
Everything in life comes at a price. With the high cost of gas how many of you want another big chunk of your money taken from you and spent by the government? Do I think the system works? No! Health insurance companies shouldn’t be for profit, but I don’t want to give the government control of something that is so important. They can’t handle the current Medicare system.
I was an auditor in the ’90s and our firm audited hospitals. Due to demand, we created a new offshoot company to calculate the amounts that hospitals knowingly defrauded the government through Medicare and to negotiate with the Feds to only pay back a portion and avoid criminal prosecution. The government would cut deals with these hospitals, accepting pennies on the dollar. I don’t want any bunch of idiot bureaucrats making health care decisions for me (no matter who gets elected).

Health Care debate not withstanding, I have my thoughts on the health care…
In obvious news:
Why did he have to go get mean with the old lady?
He could have charmingly handled that, and still made his point.
He had the stage and the microphone. He was in charge.
Everyone who is accustom to the stage, the spotlight and microphone, KNOWS the techniques to disarm the hecklers in a charming manner.
I think the reason he got so hot queencrone was because this was an issue that meant a lot to the two of them and they really tried to get it to work.
Plus, I think he has had it with people taking cheep shots, and he doesn’t have to take it anymore. If you have seen an of the interviews where reporters have tried take shots like that, he tares them up and calls them on their bullshit.
And Kat, your right it will take money to make it work. Where are we going to get it? How about we actually tax the upper class instead of giving them all the tax breaks. It’s about time they do their part instead of the poor and middle class shouldering the majority of the tax. But lets be honest, we’re not naive, that will never happen. The rich get rich and the poor get poor, thats the American way.
Also, you live with what you’re used to. I’ve been used to being taxed at 15% since I started working, so it’s no shock to me when there’s a chunk missing from my paycheque.
Maybe if the government would raise minimum wage above $5.85 people could afford to be taxed to pay for basic services.
Our minimum wage in PA is $7.15 per hour. Do I think that is great money? No, but unfortunately our economy cannot support much more for minimum wage jobs. If you increase those, cost of things like food increase even more than they already are increasing now. Any increase like that directly affects the cost of things that the working poor buy already.
“Isn’t it funny how the loudest ones are usually the dumbest ones, too?” cord, you are pretty loud yourself.
I can appreciate, Keeblerkahn, being irritated at being called out at every turn.
But when you have been the POTUS and are now campaining for a candidate for the office of POTUS, I relly think that you need to keep your wits about you. He knows better than to let his irritation get the better of his message.
Is he trying to sabotage HRC? Because people who get all cranky with old ladies missed the whole opportunity to make some points.
He could have said everything that he indeed did say that day, but he could have brought it like he did when he was running, or when he was in office. Again I ask: Sabotage?
I’m just saying that if it had been HRC that had to deal with that voter that called out that concern, HRC would have made it into a positive.
HRC is always bringing up how some person seems to be always pulling her aside, or touching her arm and mentioning concerns just like the concerns that this lady brought out.
All politicians know that for every heckler, there is a whole community of people that are thinking the exact same thing.
Maybe it’s time for Mr. Bill to go ahead and get over to the golf course and relieve some stress. (Or whatever relieve stress for him.) I’m just saying.
But I’m thinking : SABOTAGE
I used to LOVE Bill Clinton. The country was prosperous when he was in office, plenty of jobs and no war. He was a likeable guy. Now, he is mean and cranky and seems a little off. He goes off to often, gets all red in the face and starts wagging that finger. Something is wrong with him! He sure isn’t scoring any points for wifey. Of course that’s fine with me-I’m Obama all the way! YES WE CAN!
