"Too Black"? Too Wrong.

mtv

Which reality-show clogged network had to change its casting procedures after a racist internal policy was leaked? Producers had an informal ban on considering cast members who were "too black." They claimed it was because darker skin tones were hard to pick up on camera.

Is this real? Can you find a copy of the memo?

I'm just wondering if it's true that darker tones are harder to pick up on camera. I mean there are ways around this. If they cast a more jovial black person, they could always follow the bright white teeth or the sound of tap dancing.

I'm almost positive that the phrase "too black" has nothing to do with the actual pigment.

I don't remember the last time I watched MTV anymore. You know why? Because there is no more "M". I don't remember the last time there was a music video on there. It's completely lost it's edge. Now it's more like Nickelodeon for sluts.

I loved Nickelodeon as a kid…and I love being a slut…is that why I am addicted to real world/road rules challenges and the hills??

Zing! Angela, that was awesome. But for real, just like you shouldn't wear black and white stripes on t.v., you also shouldn't have black people and white people in the same shot. That is just science. LOOK IT UP!

it certainly ain't VH11! (when is "i love new york 3" coming out anyway?)which is worse, MTV and their racism (remember, they refused to feature videos by black artists back in the day…way before i was born in the early 80's :)…until michael jackson came along and they had no choice) or their sister network VH1 which lives on a steady diet of black shows, which on the surface is fantastic. until you see said shows and realize that they're simply modern day minstrel shows. (yes i know i'm part of the problem cause i'm addicted to "i love new york").

i hope both networks get killed in the face.

Angela: It's true to a point but exactly how on the other end a really pale person is going to be washed out. Anyway, not such a big deal when you have professional lighting and all.
