So at the moment there's all this buzz about Britney Spears getting her life back on track, and the pop star even put that traumatizing VMA performance in the past by filming a promo for this year's MTV awards show. She reportedly shot the ad-libbed commercial this week in Hollywood with host Russell Brand and a 9,000-pound "elephant in the room." Clever.

But can we just take a moment to reflect on how far she's truly fallen? In a mere seven years, one of the most famous artists of our time went from performing a near-perfect routine to close out the 2001 VMAs to being the laughing stock of the industry.

We miss the old Brit.

Oh here it comes:
"I love her"
"she looks hot"
"can't wait for her next album"
"I'm excited"
Kill me now..can't she just go away? This is just more proof that there is no God..a caring, a just and loving God would have struck her dead when she attempted comeback # 36

Well she was clearly better at lip-syncing back then.

Mae, you are a woman after my own heart. She couldn't sing then and she can't sing now. Isn't that the whole point of being a singer, being able to sing well? Obviously not because that left-for-dead screeching cat, Rihanna, is still around (how does that even happen?!?) Sorry Brit fans, but studio-altered singing doesn't count. I hardly miss the old Brit, don't like the new Brit, and can't wait until the whole world realizes that this is someone who should have never been famous to begin with. You want T&A? Buy a Playboy and spare my ears the pain.

I don't. I enjoy laughing at her. I hated her back then and I still do.

i don't take pleasure in watching her fall. that's a really nasty thing to do.

I'm kind of in the middle ground on this subject. On the one hand, a psychological breakdown is nothing to take lightly and I'm glad she's doing better. On the other hand, the mere fact that she makes shitloads of money off her choreographed dance moves and altered singing voice makes us in the working class, who actually do something relevant to earn money, want to gouge our own eyes out while we put our ass out further to be raped by the man.

I hate the wealthy.

When did she ever have a good performance? We just were having a good time and forgot to notice that she was just a face with an over-produced, music industry voice. Seriously. Watching a portion of that VMA "Slave 4 U" performance brought that home for me. Put a little weight on her and a ill-fitting black short and you have the most recent VMA disaster. Same difference. It was lame and I still feel sorry for that snake.

Britney is and always has been more of an entertainer than a singer. And her dancing is pretty good too. She has fans and always will. The new Britney is way better off than the old. Britney has her act together more now than ever. BEST WISHES TO BRITNEY SPEARS!!!!
