Bogus Info

Entertainment Tonight did it! They finally did it! After weeks of refusing to retract their false report that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins, they’re owning up to the fact that they got it wrong.

Sort of!

None of this would’ve have been such a big deal if exec producer Linda Bell Blue admitted the bogus Internet rumor their story was based on was total bunk, but now it’s just an embarrassing stain on their, ahem, reputation.

Caught Pregnant-Bellied

This week In Touch made Los Angeles Times blogger Liz Snead — who’s been calling on Angelina Jolie to SHOW YOURSELF!!! – a very happy woman: At last, since Entertainment Tonight first falsely reported the superstar mom had given birth to her twins, there’s photo evidence that … she hasn’t.

nobabies

According to testimony obtained by the Associated Press, Entertainment Tonight, modern America’s version of the stocks, knowingly aired a false report on Friday that claimed Angelina Jolie had given birth to twins. Anonymous sources with insider knowledge of the incident say that ET knew well before it broadcast the information that it had come from someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant, but the decision was made to air it anyway. ET – of course – says the AP’s information is bogus.

We don’t care know who to believe, but kudos to the mystery performance artist(s?) making a mockery out of all the people getting excited over babies they’ll never, ever see in real life.

JOSSIP REPORTS

How to explain how Entertainment Tonight so very badly bungled the EXCLUSIVE!!! story about Angelina Jolie giving birth last week? (And then their website “crashed“; maybe they were hiding from their screw up?)

Well, it wasn’t entirely their fault.

Luckily, It's Not From TMZ

The first video has been released of Britney’s second How I Met Your Mother appearance. The hair, makeup and acting are all the same, so it’s really nothing too compelling; ET, however, is almost too excited about this, and you can bet the show will have shown her entire performance in daily clips before the episode even airs.

heathledgerlawsuit

Because Heath Ledger simply cannot rest in peace, a lawsuit was filed today alleging the late actor was set up in 2006 by two photographers who offered him cocaine and secretly videotaped the exchange for profit. (Remember the little video that Entertainment Tonight promoted but never ran after Heath’s death?)

The suit was filed by “Jane Doe,” who was a freelance reporter for People at the time of the incident. Her then-boyfriend, Splash photographer Darren Banks, met up with Heath after the SAG awards and brought him to Doe’s room at the Chateau Marmont.

Problem is, Heath wasn’t aware that he was hanging out with Splash photogs, and they quickly offered him cocaine. After the men began snorting, one of the Splash guys left the room to secretly film Ledger from the room’s balcony. Once Heath caught on to what was happening, he became angry but was assured the tape would be destroyed — except we obviously know it wasn’t, because it was sold to Entertainment Tonight back in January for $200,000.

So why the lawsuit? Jane Doe is seeking unspecified damages on charges of fraud, intrusion, infliction of emotional distress and privacy violations because her voice is on the tape and she is afraid people will think she was doing coke. Because if anyone is the victim in all this, it’s Jane Doe.

A coalition of powerful celebrities like Natalie Portman and that girl from Juno may be behind Entertainment Tonight and The Insider’s decision to not air a two-year-old video of the recently deceased Heath Ledger in a coke den at LA’s Chateau Marmont.

A spokesperson for the shows confirmed that the full video will not air.

“Out of respect for Heath Ledger’s family, ‘Entertainment Tonight’ and ‘The Insider’ have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world media,” a show spokesperson said in a statement.

Of course, in the past, both programs have eagerly shown offensive footage of the dead, including pictures of Princess Di’s fatal car crash and a drugged-out Anna Nicole Smith in clown makeup; why stop now? Rumor has it they’re being intimidated into submission with threats of no further interviews.
