Gisele Bundchen let it all hang out for the latest issue of V Magazine and then actually formed some coherent sentences during an interview. Small victories. Despite answering the question of what she’s most passionate about with a simple “the destruction of our planet,” Gisele had plenty to say when it came to the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair scandal:
Can you believe this is news? It’s ridiculous. And the politicians aren’t going to create any laws about this [kind of media saturation]. They’re very happy with it. They can go around doing what they want and no one cares because we’re more concerned about some 15-year-old girl holding a sheet in a picture. No one cares about what [the politicians are] screwing up, or how much money is being lost.
Yes, the woman at right is missing a limb, as are the ladies below. Because of this, each and every day they are faced with unique obstacles most of the rest of the world will never understand, and they’re certainly all the stronger because of it. Good for them. But we’ve got one question: How pretty are they compared to one another?
A new show on the BBC seeks to get to the bottom of that query, so that the world may finally know who is the most beautiful, English, female amputee around. Or, as the Britain’s Missing Top Model Web site puts it, “Eight young disabled women discover what it takes to be a model - but which of them will win a photo shoot and appear in a top fashion magazine?”
In the words of one William Corgan: The world is a vampire.

Suddenly, after several years of being at the bottom of the fashion heap, black models are back on top. In a big way. Not only are they exclusively populating the pages of this month’s super-hyped Vogue Italia, Wintour & Co. also begrudgingly gave them some attention. At Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week, the designers of Dsquared used a group of models, led by Tyson Beckford, made up almost entirely of black men. And rumor has it that Lanvin’s show next week has an “all-ethnic lineup.”

24-year old beauty and Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova is being criticized over her appearance in recent days at Sao Paulo Fashion Week, especially after a runway appearance in a bikini.One Brazilian paper blasted her back fat and cellulite, as did other outlets. The impetus for the stories were two still photos taken at the Cia Maritima fashion show at the end of last week.

Apparently, people are still listening to Coldplay. We thought that was something one abandoned after undergrad, like using “party” as a verb and drinking grain alcohol. But, no, the pop rockers put on a free show at Madison Square Garden Monday night and a lot of adults showed up—some of them famous, many of them models. Take a look at yesterday’s Times article on New York City’s modeling scouts, and then tell me with a straight face that fashion and the ring of shitty predators in its orbit aren’t ravaging young people, both directly and indirectly.

America’s Next Top Model winner Whitney Thompson truly won the greatest prize of all: She was shot by noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker for a spread in Seventeen magazine. Whitney claims she’s a size 14, but she looks significantly smaller in these pictures — either she’s a liar or Nigel is just that good.
POT, KETTLE, ETC “Janice Dickinson … recently ‘flipped out‘ when she saw a paparazzi photo of [Tyra] Banks in a magazine carrying a copy of Dickinson’s book, ‘No Lifeguard on Duty,’ in which she writes about sex, drug use, incest, celebrity affairs and her near-fatal car wreck some years back. Dickinson showed [Page Six] the torn-out magazine photo with a caption saying Banks was on her way to speak with young girls and offer her advice. ‘And she’s using my book,’ Dickinson fumed. ‘I mean, the thing looks so worn it’s like she’s been reading it on the toilet. It’s pathetic. Where’s her originality? Does she have no shame?’”
CariDee English, the seventh season winner of America’s Next Top Model, first exercised her bad judgment when auditioning for the Tyra Banks-created reality show. Then she admitted to dating a guy who stole $10,000 of her money to spend in Vegas (we never knew she and Kevin Federline were an item).
But the latest bit of idiocy came last night when CariDee announced that she is currently dating fellow model (and ginormous tool) Tyson Beckford. Um, Cari? Perhaps you should get back with that K-Fed-esque guy.

Last night, Whitney, a 20-year-old student from Florida, became the first ever plus-size winner of America’s Next Top Model. It’s a huge step for the advancement of the belief that all women deserve to be objectified.
Tyra’s face says it all: Shock! Dismay! Why is this show — this woman! – still on the air week after numbing week? WHY!!!!!!

The French Parliament is on its way to passing an unprecedented bill that recommends fines and prison sentences for people — like proprietors of those hideous and sad “pro-ana” Web sites — who promote and encourage “extreme thinness.”
Alicia Douvall’s 12-year-old daughter, Georgia, wants a breast augmentation; no doubt to emulate her mother, who’s had a dozen. Alicia, a model, says there’s absolutely no way she’s going to let Georgia get breast implants at 12. Obviously, the young lady has to wait until she’s 16!!!!!!!

The awful, miserable Alicia has done one kind thing for her daughter and changed Georgia’s name to Destiny, a gauche but clear reminder to the world that she had no choice but to become a horribly damaged nightmare.
