Melting Out Cold Hearts

Few women in Hollywood tug at our heartstrings the way Michelle Williams does. The actress, who lost partner Heath Ledger nearly a year ago and is now left to raise her daughter on her own, doesn't ask for attention and seems to be one of the few genuinely good people left in the business. Her grief is tragic, and she still brings tears to our eyes when discussing her love:

Williams is jovial and chatty, until the conversation turns to Heath. You can see it's still difficult for her to talk about him, and she hasn't done so publicly until now. The first time Ledger's name comes up, she bursts into tears. 'It's so sad,' Williams says. When she's asked about how she's been doing in the past year, she's silent for a very long time. 'I guess it's always changing,' she says. There's another pause. 'What else can I say?' Her voice is breathy and fragile, and she takes a few gulps of air. 'I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that's what I mean by "it's always changing."' She stops again. 'It's a strange thing to say'—her words unravel slowly, her eyes tear up—'because I'm at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It's just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That's what I would say.'

Roundhouse Kick To The Face

Here's someone we don't hear from often: Jean-Claude Van Damme. The Muscles From Brussels, as Wikipedia calls him, is (happily?) married, but that doesn't stop him from hitting on poor Newsweek reporters during interviews about his latest film creation. It's glorious, and almost akin to watching animals mate. You know you should look away, but you can't. See his Mystery-worthy technique after the jump.

Bonus: While searching on Mollygood for previous Jean-Claude items, I came across this old school post, which has become the greatest gift I've ever unintentionally received (video also after the jump). Enjoy.

Who Invited You?

David Blaine seems to have fully recovered from his Drop of Death Gone Wrong '08 and even scored himself an invitation to last night's NYC premiere of Milk. Seriously? The event hosted all of Hollywood's popular (and good-looking) leading men and David Effing Blaine was invited? This is an outrage.

Not only did Blaine cause the event to lose major street cred — he also adversely affected the attractiveness of every male in attendance. Seriously, what the hell happened to these guys? Even Chace Crawford, who is usually the prettiest girl at the ball, arrived looking like he had been beaten up in the school parking lot by a couple of hobos. Thanks for nothing, Blaine. Go back to your lair and don't come out until you've devised another fake stunt.

JACKMAN NAMED PEOPLE'S SEXIEST MAN ALIVE; WE SOMEWHAT AGREE • "He's a triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon. At 6 ft. 2 in., all scruff and biceps, Hugh Jackman looms large in the epic Australia, which he says kept him 'dirty 95 percent of the time' and left people stammering, 'Oh … my … God,' according to costar Nicole Kidman, who adds, 'Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room.'"

Sad People

Britney Spears rarely says anything as of late that hasn't been approved by her top-notch management team, but the upcoming MTV documentary, Britney: For the Record, looks to be quite revealing — and incredibly sad. It's a wonder so many people still pull for the singer, but there's something about Brit that's just so tragic that you can't help but want to give her a hug and take her out of Hollywood for good.

After the jump, a heartbreaking look into Brit's life, straight from the horse's mouth.

Perez Hilton Collects Them For His Saint Angie Shrine

All this talk about Jennifer Aniston/Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie lately has made us sick of the trio — until we see moments like this and we remember that everyone's human after all. At a press conference to discuss The Changeling, Angie teared up when discussing how she drew inspiration for her role from her late mother. It's touching, and a nice break from the "uncool" controversy of '08. Not saying the woman is perfect — because, to be honest, we tend to side with Jen in the love triangle situation — but everyone has a heart.

NORTON'S OBAMA DOC GAINS MOMENTUM • "A documentary, more than two years in the making, about President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign is gathering significant interest from international distributors just days after being picked up in the United States by HBO. A team of directors and editors backed by the actor Edward Norton is furiously editing the untitled project. Given the historic nature of Mr. Obama’s victory and worldwide interest in the presidential race, the film is drawing attention from the BBC and other foreign broadcasters. Since the HBO acquisition was announced, 'we’ve had an enormous number of incoming calls from territories all over the world,' said Andrew Hurwitz, an entertainment lawyer who is representing the film along with the talent agency Endeavor."

'I Don't Kill Myself at the End'

Wellllllllll, this has never happened before: some Paris Hilton news that actually interests us.

Hilton, she of the sex tapes and the drunken club appearances and the jail time (and the Dubai hotelier fawning), has signed on to star in a "companion piece" to Todd Solondz' 1998 masterwork, Happiness. Quite a leap for an actress accustomed to horror operas and grainy stag flicks.

Solondz is a true artist, and Happiness, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Dylan Baker, is one of the best dark comedies of the past decade. Watching it, you almost forget that it's awash in the semen of both grown men and young boys. (It would be crude and easy of us to suggest that fact is what helped sell Hilton on the sequel, so we'll not.)

What a delight it will be to see how Solondz goes about using Hilton's, uh, talents?

After the jump, some of our favorite Happiness moments. (NSFW!!!!)

ON-AGAIN, OFF-AGAIN 'ARRESTED' FILM ON-AGAIN • "The show was called 'Arrested Development' and no amount of superlatives can do the show justice. Let’s just say it was brilliant and move on. Since the show was cancelled, rumblings of a feature film based on the show have been reported every time any of the stars does an interview. Almost always…the star in question says I’d love to do one, but I’m waiting to hear from creator Mitch Hurwitz. Well…tonight is the night the story shifts into high gear! On the red carpet, Jeffrey [Tambor] told me he just spoke to Mitch and the movie is a go! He says Mitch Hurwitz spoke to him this week and while he didn’t know when the start date was, he said, 'when the writer/director calls you it’s a pretty good sign.'"

Junk Food Junked

We hope you're happy with yourselves, poverty-stricken American moviegoers. The nation's greasy, smiling, apple-cheeked concession stand hot dogs are going uneaten because of you and your wise spending. For shame.

… Carmike Cinemas and Cinemark Holdings both reported weaker US revenue on Monday as dwindling concession spending added to smaller admissions figures in the third quarter.

The figures were down despite record-breaking results from Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight."

Both the theater chains made reference to the tough economic environment, which could cut into consumers' willingness to spend on popcorn and movie tickets even though conventional wisdom holds that movie-going is a recession-proof activity.

Listen, freeloaders, if this frugality continues, this sneaking in of outside food and beverage and restraint when it comes to $6 cups of fizzy sugar water, theaters will have no choice but to raise ticket prices to an infeasible amount of money. And then the whole world's gonna be clogging up the BitTorrents for us normal movie watchers. YOU GET IN THERE AND GET THOSE $11 SOUR PATCH KIDS!!!!

All Your Part Are Belong to Us

Achtung, white people, all your stuff's ours now. We're coming for everything you once held dear and will leave you huddled around a trash fire like hobos in some sort of racial nuclear winter. Guess you should have read the fine print on those "HOPE" posters.

Starting immediately, YOUR beloved movie characters will be replaced with OUR beloved movie stars. Not only does Daniel Craig think it's time for a black James Bond, Jaden Smith, son of non-threatening African American male Will, has just been tapped to star in a remake of 80s hit The Karate Kid. The original starred the nerdy but lovable Ralph Macchio, but that was before November 4, 2008. Make room for a real black belt, Hollywood.

Next, we're coming for the womenfolk, surfing and French cuisine. Yes we can.

PAGING DR. BURKE: YOU WERE FIRED LAST YEAR, SHUT UP "Former Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington — who was axed from the show in 2007 after spewing a homophobic slur at T.R. Knight — is slamming the show for firing Brooke Smith. 'I looked at a brilliant actress, whom I have adored since I first saw her in Silence of the Lambs,' he says in the Nov. 17 issue of TV Guide. 'For her to be treated this way, I find very interesting. … Now that I see what they're doing to a show that I love and I care about, I think it's disgusting.'"

Taking a break from Britney and Kim and all things that make us weep for America: The cult classic Little Shop of Horrors has once again become relevant, thanks to the magical powers of YouTube. You see, the 1986 musical about a blood-sucking plant has an alternate ending that was changed at the last minute due to whining from test audiences. It apparently cost $5 million and 11 months to produce and was released for a mere five days back in 1998 until a copyright scuffle caused the DVD to be recalled. During the ongoing legal battle, Warner Brothers believed the original ending was lost in a studio fire — but voila! Here it is, lurking around the Internets.

The 24-minute alternate ending begins above and continues after the jump. It's magic!

Naturally

If there's one question we ask ourselves daily it's, "What does Rumer Willis want to do with her life?" Everyone is desperate to know the hopes and dreams of the spawn of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Thankfully, she's talking about it:

I would love to be the killer in something or be crazy. … I remember watching Air Bud one year … and it was the last five minutes of the movies, and they're playing in the big game, and they're losing, and I'm all like, 'Dude, this sucks. I know he's gonna win.' I want to see the bad guy win. I want to upset people.

Ah, yes. We knew it was only a matter of time before the woman who starred in such cinematic masterpieces such as The House Bunny and Striptease and played "Smoking Girl" in Whore would take the next step in her career and play a psycho killer.

More proof of the election's mental and emotional damage: There's a man out there who is seriously in love with Condoleezza Rice and is on a quest to meet her. We have no idea when this film/documentary, Courting Condi, is going to be released, but the trailer looks simply amazing. Even better? The main star is Buzz from Home Alone. There are no words.

SILLY SHOPPING SHOW TO BE PROFITED FROM AGAIN "After months of nervous nail-gnawing, Kim Cattrall, 52, confirms what we all suspected: There WILL be a sequel to this year's box office and marketing hit, 'Sex and the City: The Movie.' The actress broke the news on Britain's 'The Paul O'Grady Show.' When asked, 'Will there be a sequel?' Cattrall replied with certainty, 'Yes there will!' A spokesperson for New Line Cinema tells People that the studio is 'in negotiations for a sequel.' Which is not quite as emphatic as Cattrall's statement but close, in Hollywood speak."
