Congrats, Simpson family: Your pathetic attempts to stay in the spotlight have worked, and in the process, every last member of the family looks like a loser. Granted, it's been like this for awhile.
Here's the latest on the disaster Papa Joe created:
• Tony Romo and Jessica are still broken up, and Simpson reps are still denying it. Sources say Tony finally had enough of Papa Joe's meddling — which included unsolicited career advice — and also became upset after seeing Jess' Glamour magazine interview in which she referred to him as her "future husband."
• Papa Joe has begged Tony to accompany Jess to Ashlee's wedding this weekend to "support the family." Also, to keep up appearances.
• Speaking of the wedding from hell, Ashlee and Pete Wentz have asked guests to dress in dark colors for the big day. That's so deep.
• People has reportedly shelled out seven figures for exclusive access to the couple's wedding photos. Has the magazine learned nothing from the public's lack of interest in the Mariah wedding pictures?

Though this story is slightly dubious, since I first heard it last month in reference to Jessica Simpson's Maxim photoshoot, it's still uncomfortably awesome. Nothing like a good story of Simpson parents crossing all lines of appropriate behavior to brighten up a Monday. The Scoop reports
The divorcing “Dukes of Hazzard” star recently posed for OK! magazine, and her father gave his thumbs up to a shot of her lying on a bed in her skivvies while a hunky guy near her unbuttoned his shirt.
“Time out! Hold it!” Simpson’s mother, Tina, was shouting, according to the Hamilton Spectator. “Nope, this isn't going to work.” Tina Simpson said she was forbidding her daughter to be photographed that way and that the pose made the starlet look “slutty” reports the mag. A source says: “The parents had a discussion with Tina saying: ‘Trust me, I'm her mother. This isn't the image we want.’”
Way to ruin all the fun, mom. Couldn't she see that Papa Joe was just trying to get some nice shots to add to his personal collection? Ain't nothing wrong with a little bit of fatherly pride.
Jessica Simpson hopped down to Cabo with her closest entourage to celebrate her 26th birthday this weekend. Her mother, Tina, was there along with tagalong CaCee Cobb and hair stylist/follower Ken Paves. I assume Joe was not there as he had to keep a (very, very) close eye on Project #2, Ashlee. I've never seen Jessica so shy with her bikini-bod, but we all have our days I suppose. Judging from her ability to keep the sunglasses on, she's clearly drunkwasted and is probably losing her suit in some capacity under that cover-up.
In other Jessica news, hope springs eternal for a Minnillo/Simpson showdown. As People reports, Jessica is slated to cohost the Teen Choice Awards next month where she is also a nominee. Both Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are nominated for awards as well. And though I'm sure they'll avoid each other like trans fat, fingers crossed that Jessica at least has to utter Vanessa's name at some point in the ceremony. August 20, you cannot come fast enough,
