Stay Classy, Poor Parched Travelers

Now that we're tanking like Rome and everyone's been fired and air travel is a luxury few can afford, the airlines are doing exactly what you'd expect in these uncomfortable economic times: taking more of the consumer's money and offering him shittier service in return.

Not only have some carriers started charging for extra legroom and checked baggage, today, US Airways has stopped offering free water to its passengers.

US Airways says it will provide water and drinks for passengers in cases of medical emergency and during extensive delays. If a desperately thirsty passenger does forget a few extra dollars, US Airways spokesman Morgan Durrant says flight attendants will likely “err on the side of the customer” and give him or her water. After all, the airline wouldn’t want its customers drinking tap water from the aircraft bathroom. That water is safe to drink, just not very palatable, according to Durrant.

“Frankly, that’s just not classy,” he says.

A bottle of water now costs $2 on a US Airways flight.

VIRGIN SHUNS LOVE "Courtney Love is the latest celebrity to be banned from flying. The singer and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain were headed back to London on Monday … when she decided that her need for nicotine outweighed the consequences of breaking the airport no smoking laws. The smoking violation took place in the first class lounge of Virgin Atlantic at LAX. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that Love was prevented from boarding her flight and was not allowed to fly out until the next evening."

New information on the recent arrest of Naomi Campbell at Heathrow airport and her subsequent excommunication from all British Airways flights. According to the Sun, as she was being dragged away in cuffs, the maniacal fashion model began calling her arresting officers "fucking white honkeys." She then berated a particular policewoman so badly — calling her things like "white slag" — that the officer has since taken leave. Campbell's spokeswoman said she can't imagine her notoriously violent, malicious client saying anything of the sort. Campbell herself is quoted as saying: "It just goes to show I have to fight for who I am. It’s because I’m black."

TURKEY INDEED "…Charlize Theron showed a shaky grasp of geography when discussing her travels…The 32-year-old South African actress said: 'We went to Turkey. When we got over there, we rented a car and we drove all the way to Budapest. By the time we got to Budapest it was like the Cannes Film Festival, I'd never seen anything like it.' Miss Theron had actually turned up in the midst of the Istanbul International Film Festival."
