How 'bout that restaurant in London that's offering free food to models with BMIs lower than 18 who are in town for Fashion Week? I had a hard time reading this, as I became temporarily blinded by incredulity.

A restaurant popular with celebrities and fashionistas in the British capital is offering free food to skinny models who have come under attack for promoting a stick-thin image which critics says encourages eating disorders in young women.

Bumpkin restaurant in trendy Notting Hill is offering models with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of less than 18 the opportunity to gorge on fish pies, lamb burgers, king prawns and scallops.

"If I could recommend a dish to a size zero model, it would be a charter pie containing leeks, chicken and bacon; it's enough to keep you warm and energised all day," Bumpkin general manager Dariush Nejad said in a statement on Monday.

Models with a BMI of less than 18 who visit Bumpkin for lunch or dinner will be invited to select any food off the menu, simply by showing their modeling card which states if they are size zero, the restaurant said.

Hooooooooly shiiiiiiiiiiiit. I'm sure glad that the UK has strict gun laws, because this is the type of thing that—a few hundred years ago—would have started a bloody, bloody revolution. This is like Marie Antoinette saying to the poor, "Let them eat cake," but a million times worse. Because instead these guys are saying, "Let the models eat cake, let the homeless still starve."

hmmmmmm. my first reaction to this was that if they really wanted to do something good, they should offer food to the homeless......... but people fucking suck and the restaurant would be inundated with people claiming to be homeless, just trying to get a free meal. i still think its a stupid way to get publicity. do they weigh you? who wants to get weighed before they eat??? not me.

what the? says:

This is so bad. What, they think they are contributing to some cause? It's not that the size zeros don't have the money to eat, it's that they don't want to eat. As if saying it's free is going to fix their problem? What idiots.

Worst. Publicity. Stunt. Ever.

I agree with what the? - By doing what they did, they are basically saying the models DON'T have a problem - they just aren't eating. Which is making a mockery out of legitimate disease.

I suppose they thought it was GENIUS to offer free food to girls with eating disorders that will never take them up on the offer. Like holding a contest with a bunch of prizes that you never actually have to pay. I bet that guy thought he was Soo smart. I can hear it now.

"But we will make the rule that they have to be a zero, with a BMI of 18 or less. Why you ask? Because that is the clinical diagnosis for anorexia and that means none of them are eating anyway so none of them will come! Oh but great publicity because we are doing such charity work! Homeless?? What does the homeless have to do with this? I'm not letting the HOMELESS in this establishment!"

I know size 0 chicks, and they're way bigger than the models in those picks. I'm fairly sure these girls are negative.
