What the hell happened to Nelly Furtado? When she first started, she had this hippy dippy Canadian thing going on that was like a cross between the Dixie Chicks and Erykah Badu. Her music wasn't great but she seemed nice. Now she's all glammed out, talking shit and making snaky arm gestures on TRL.

I thought you were like a bird, Nelly? What are you, a peacock?

It's like when Jewel sold out and got all glammed...look how long that lasted! Now she does a razor jingle (and still gets more $ than I'll ever have...sigh....)

I really liked her song, "I'mlikeabird" on her WHOA! NELLY! However, hippie doesn't sell, GLAM does! She now has a child to support.

Shes from my hometown...they've declared the day she preforms here, March 21st, "Nelly Day"....It is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard...shes a complete sellout. She was a total hippy-chick in the beginning and shes just as skanked out as any other popstar now!....Apparently, its all about branching out and trying new things with the music...but shes not..shes turning into every other singer out there...she should NOT have a damn day named after her..

I couldn't disagree more, she still stands worlds apart from most of the other artists topping the charts. Her music is fucking awesome to dance to now and she uses lots of portuguese influences just like she did when she first came out. You can't make an accurate assessment by watching her for 3 minutes on TRL. Just because someone doesn't cater to your specific desires doesn't mean they are a 'sell out', I couldn't be happier that she is addressing a different market now.

Sell-out?! Honestly who cares, no one likes hippies, but her style has definately changed. I now think of her as a black person. Her style was better 'back then'.

first of all, her music is great. its fun to listen to and better than alot of the garbage that is produced now.

she had a kid, maybe she just wanted a damn makeover..honestly...is it really necesary to pick everyone apart like that?? let these people be. stop being so miserable about the fact that they are defecating money while you are scraping it together..thats what it sounds like you idiots are doing when you narrow minded people attack her and others for no good reason.,

Word. What happened Nelly? How the hell did you go from free-spirited with flowy skirts and pigtail braids to Timbaland and '80's coke chic?

She does have a child to support...that baby's gonna be much better off now, let's face it. Stop hating...she's fabulous and you are all jealous....how sad. PATHETIC LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, none of you have ever listened to her speak or her albums just what is played on the radio or tv. She has been very vocal in her love of hip hop and her own Portugese music. I think this was a natural progression for her and her record company decided to back since her last album Forklore got no play or promotion.
Also this type of music is easy to sell and will get you out of debt to your record company. Also she's been very lucky most artist don't get a third album after a nonselling second/sophmore album.

She's a good artist and I'll continue to buy all her albums to see where she goes/grows next.
