Mollygood Readers Tell All

reggiebushmug.jpg

There are two sides to all celebrities: The squeaky-clean images forced upon the public by PR reps and their actual personalities. To provide you with a glimpse into the real Hollywood characters are Mollygood's very own readers, telling tales of celebrity encounters big and small. Up this week: Reader Kelli's unfortunate run-in with Reggie Bush.

My husband was invited to an invitational poker tournament at the Playboy mansion, with the cause to help disabled kids. Since we have a profoundly retarded child, he put up the grand and went. One of the guest hosts was none other than Reggie Bush.

During the tournament, my husband said he met an incredible amount of celebrities — all beyond nice. Unfortunately, he had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bush, who my disabled son thought was the greatest. My husband asked him for an autograph, explaining who it was for, and Mr. Bush looked right at my husband and said, 'Sorry, I don't do autographs' before walking away.

Yea, he is such a HUGE role model for kids! As far as I'm concerned, he is a waste of space on this planet.

Your husband should have said "well you do people who like to get peed on, is autograph giving really your low point?"

    Ugh, what a douche.

This makes me sad :-( Sorry Kelli. I have a sibling w/ Downs and it made her YEAR to meet her obsessions, William Shatner and Pamela Anderson- both were very nice to her :-)

Well, I guess if my husband has asked to be pee'd on, maybe he would have accommodated! He was one of the celebrity "guests" so, why bother to show?

No more Reggie in our house, thats for sure. Kim can have his sorry ass.

    People are jackasses, it's true.

My immediate thought after having read this was that her husband *probably* could have been persuaded to play in the tournament even if it wasn't for a good cause…given that it was at the Playboy Mansion and all. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm a horrible person.

Reggie Bush is overrated…he will go down as another first round disappointment who never measures up to the hype. I drafted him this year and was ssssoooooooo happy when I traded him and Chad Johnson for LT.

    He is a douche.

I wish he'd go away. Actually, I wish the NCAA would choose to pursue legal action against him for his many NCAA violations. This jerk took hundreds of thousands of dollars in booster money, hired an agent before he officially declared himself for the draft, yet because he won't talk to them they can't pursue. Even though they have tons of evidence.

I just want to see USC get stripped of their wins, therefore giving my beloved Sooners another national championship.

This is the horrible encounter? Yes, it's absurd and an a-hole move, but hey, I don't see anyone calling Cameron Diaz a waste of space. At least he prefaced it with "sorry."

Much worse are some of the comments above and "waste of space" statement. Yay. You deserve each other.

Hey gorgeousblackwomen, part of this guys job is to entertain children. He's part of the Nickleodeon campaign to get kids to play. Here is the website http://www.nick.com/shows/lets_just_play/nfl/. He should be fucking delighted he has the privilage to sign autographs for disabled children. To not make an exception is a major douchebag move. Also, Cameron Diaz is a cunt. Don't even get me started on that bitch …

Campaign or not, I do think he should have signed the autograph. It doesn't even matter if it's for a kid. His mainstream fame (outside of football) is pretty dependent on people actually liking him. He has a job that I'm sure thousands of men would kill for. He's in a public venue so it's not like someone had interrupted him while he was spending time with his loved ones or taking a leak or something. Celebrities are fortunate to have people who support them. When approached by fans, they should be as gracious about it without compromising their safety.

Calling him a "waste of space" and Cameron a "cunt"? Kinda absurd.

Did I miss the Cameron Diaz personal celebrity encounter on MG? Call me Rip Van Winkle. In other words, this conversation is about somebody something Bush, whom I've never heard of. Cameron Diaz is a totally unrelated subject. If you have a personal story about her, maybe you should submit it for publication.

Bedbusandballyho, she is quasi-related to this story. She's well know for being bad about signing autographs. She never seems to spend time giving back to her fans.

So. Submit your personal encounter for publication. As Kelli did about Mr. Bush. That's what this thing is all about. If you had a bad encounter with Miss Diaz, submit it to Whitney. Let her run with it. Then we can all rag on Princess Fiona for being so mean and rude. This is Mr. Bush's moment in the sun. Let him bask in all his assholediness.

I haven't had a personal encounter with her. That wasn't the point. Gorgeousblackwomen brought Cameron up because, like Reggie Bush, she also doesn't do autographs. As I said, quasi-related.

Lets not forget something here. The event - which could have been at WalMart for all I am concerned, was a CHARITY event to raise money for a cause. If signing your name while not in front of a TV camera or for personal press reason causes him so much distress, stay home! People like him only want the perks of fame. No matter how you slice it, he is a poor role model - for anyone. And yes gorgeousblackwoman, he is a waste of space in my opinion. Lets also not forget that he has defamed the high standards of USC (my personal alma mater!) and is still under active investigation for taking inappropriate gifts and money while there. His personal greed could cause embarassment and loss for all of those other guys there who actually gave a damn about their ethics, honesty and code of honor while playing for USC. If he is found guilty, USC will be stripped of their game wins. For what? Because of his greed?

SO? It's the Playboy mansion; not exactly the place to call people on not having high morals.

And who calls their own child retarded?

    The whole quote sounds suspect.

So, "Kellis", apparently you have certain areas where good behavior is expected, and others not? ANY public place should be an area where decent human behavior is expected, by one and all, but apparently our parents had different values.

And my child is profoundly retarded. Medical Diagnostic name for his condition. Ever so sorry if his condition offends you. Perhaps you could suggest an alternative diagnosis, and I will be most happy to pass your suggestion onto his doctors and therapists. Clearly, if you had lived 27 years with a child who will never be over 4, you would realize that at the end of the day, you would do WHATEVER you could to make that child smile. Be it an ice cream from the ice cream man or a picture of his "hero" you would do it just for that smile because while you would realize how bleak his future is, he has no idea and for that you would be truly grateful. So, do us all a favor, and keep your ignorant judgements to yourself.

I am actually amazed that some of you would stoop so low as to blame, and/or question the integrity of the parents of the child, just because you can't accept the fact that your hero behaved like a complete douchebag. Wow. Just. Wow.
I guess many of his fans are a lot like him, thus the attraction.

OK, first comment goes to "gorgeousblackwomen" - would you be so quick to come to his defense if it were Peyton Manning people were talking about? Next one is for Jerine - I see your point but don't you think that the cameras being around had something to do with him signing autographs? Kim K & Reggie Bush are perfect for each other - they are each their #1 fan! If they didn't create scandal for themselves we wouldn't even know who they are.
