So it's nearing the end of the workday, and we're finally starting to get some details about the Sunday night altercation between Christian Bale and his family. Everyone has inside sources and theories, but one thing is clear: Nobody is really placing the blame on our Dark Knight. Thank goodness.
A rundown of the latest rumors, after the jump.
By far the most interesting theory was posted by a Just Jared commenter, who claims his or her father works at the hotel in question:
His mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. they were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian is the victim here not his mom or sister.
My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling. they sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.
And then there's TMZ's version of the incident, which claims Christian did indeed have physical contact with his mother — but it was harmless:
Sources directly connected to the Christian Bale case tell TMZ there was physical contact between Christian and his mom, but it amounted to next to nothing. We're told Bale pushed his mom out of the way during the altercation. She was not hurt and did not fall down. There's a division of opinion on whether the contact was a 'push' or a 'brush.'
And for the last story, Bale's mother and sister make an appearance. Call us crazy, but we get a weird vibe from those two:
Sources said that Bale was accused of lashing out at his family members — pushing one of them — in an argument over a long-running family dispute.
Jenny Bale, 61, and daughter Sharon, 41, today said an 'incident' had taken place but refused to give any details. Sharon originally denied knowing anything about it but then said: 'OK, there was an incident but the police are dealing with it. It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say.'
Mrs Bale said: 'Yes I was there and yes there was a family situation but the police are handling it and I cannot say anymore at the moment. We didn't call the police to the scene. I can't say anymore but we didn't call the police.'

He is getting beaten up by the press and no one knows that facts, sucks for him and his family.
Last reports I've read state that he was not charged, and was released after about four hours of questioning. A hearing in September will address this incident more thoroughly. Apparently in Britain, verbal exchanges can be classified as "verbal assault" (and on different levels, even) if there is some kind of perceived "threat" behind the words. How odd.
But like I said, this will blow over. And it appears to have even worked out in his favor.
And it appears to have even worked out in his favor.
Interesting points. Also, the film is getting a lot of free press out of this…
I absolutely love him! I do not believe that his family members are the victims in this situation…don't get me wrong, a legitimate claim should be taken seriously. However I believe that his mom and sister wanted something from him, and when they didn't get it they flipped out.
It's pretty well-known that he's been estranged from his mother for some time…who knows what happened?
poor guy, i feel for you christian!
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE!!!!!!!!
The thing which I find suspect is that they reported the incident to police in Hampshire or Dorset or somewhere else and it then got referred to the met police (police in London like the NYPD or LAPD for LA)when they'd obviously realised what they can sell the story to the sun/mirror/news of the world.
If as is claimed his mother and sister are drug/acohol dependant this could explain it.
This could also be bollox as I've got back from the pub after reading the Sun newspaper and I've had a couple.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAALE!!!!!!! I locked my sister in a closet once. But she wore my shoes after my telling her 3 times not to. She had it coming. Good think we're not in the Uk or I'd be locked up by now.
see that's what separates us stupid americans from cool brits.
words like "bollox."
and "brilliant."
and "throw some shrimp on the barbie."
"fostah's. australian for bee-ah."
yeah, yeah, i know.
Come on now, fucktards is a pretty good word. And so is, weaksauce. You call someone weaksauce and the fight is over. BEEEEEEEEEEEEER! I've replaced BALE! with BEER! pending further investigation.
on that note juju you are the only person i ever heard use the phrase "turd burglars" - it's listed as a keyword on this spam filtering software and when we saw it like a year ago, i did start using it just bc it was hilarious… but i didnt think id ever hear someone say it. i have no idea what it means but it's apparently popular in spam.
My GOOD LORD!
The family is squabbling and it's not even the holiday season yet.
Pace yourselves Bale family!
I'd like to be a fly on the wall at THEIR Thanksgiving dinner.
The fam probably taunted him with the the batoosie and he lost it…
They had it coming !
I just like the visual of turd burglars invading while I sleep.
My cousin's husband calls his sister a "turd buglar" because she's a nurse and he finds it amusing she has to wipe all her patients and get rid of the mess.
rofl
juju, your comments never disappoint. further investigation.
*snort*
Queencrone, Bale wouldn't do thanksgiving, what would a Welshman have to be thankful for?
Ok then, in that case Comrade Duch, I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the Bale house at Christmas!!
I really want to see what present Christian gets his mom this year.
Just in case anyone is still wondering, 'Turd Burglar' is slang for a male homosexual. See also: 'Bum Bandit', 'Derriere D'Artagnan', Shirtlifter' etc etc…
