Papers Are Blogs With Bigger Staffs

This from the Wall Street Journal:

“It is such a myth that pregnant women don’t want to wear horizontal stripes,” says Rebecca Matthias, president of Mother’s Work, which owns the chain. But Lorraine O’Neil, a 41-year-old Miami lawyer who is 7½ months pregnant, isn’t buying it. “I do not know why they are trying to make me look bigger than I already am,” she says.

Great! Both parties make very good points and yet, where did this headache come from? And why can’t we shake the feeling that if they’re actually discussing this, there’s a good chance their unborn children are in trouble?

It’s a fug dress, but I don’t believe in the horizontal stripe “rule.” Wear it if you want, don’t wear it if you want.

Having it available doesn’t mean it’s being forced on you, lady.

That’s a bit of hyperbole, mister.

I don’t think it matters what you wear when your ass and belly are the size of melons. Not even black will give you a slimming effect.

I’m wondering how discussing pregnancy fashion means the unborn children are in danger, though.

Seriously, given how much your body changes, trying to look relatively normal and thinner is natural. Maternity fashion is a biggie amongst pregnant women.

Big bows and puffy sleeves are all on my, maternity clothes don’ts, list. Looking like a parade float is not good. By 6 months I was pretty much an Oompa Loompa so my goal was to not make it any worse.

No pregnant woman wants to wear crappy looking clothes. Life is difficult enough when you have to share your body with another human. You fart and burp and embarrass yourself on a daily basis so I think wanting to look at pretty as you can is ok.

Exactly. But what’s crappy on me looks good on other people. Ok, not the big bows and sailor suits. But I really liked how horizontal stripes gave me curves below the bustline for once in m life.

Oh my bustline didn’t need it. It’s naturally an F, and pregnancy/nursing, they had their own county line. It’s from the bust on down that I have no curves whatsoever.

I’ve never been pregnant, but I still wouldn’t wear horizontal stripes. I think you have to be pretty tiny to look good in them. These pregnant stars may have huge baby bumps, but most of them are still slim everywhere else. On a side note, I can’t believe I missed the Denise visit. I don’t know if it was the real Denise, but I just wanted to assure everyone that it was not me pretending to be her (that is blasphemy!) I was planning on being her understudy and had an original stupid name all picked out!

Well all pregnant women are exactly the same, so of course they all want the same thing in their clothing patterns. I don’t know why those quoted disagree.

Asshats.

Julia, something was definitely fishy in, Mollygood. And it wasn’t just James. Just kidding my sexy gay boyfriend. It was a copy and paste job. I’m so sad.

Horizontal striped sweaters and dresses are so fricking cute on the rack. Horrible for my very top-heavy, thick-waisted figure though.

I’m Not Obsessed just puts all pregnant women on “pregnancy passes”–you can’t bash their outfits because they’re hormonal and uncomfortable etc.

I’d put pregnant women on pass becuase they may kill you if you critisize them. I didn’t handle any type of, “advice”, very well.

I’ll still criticize Christina. Her make-up remains absolutely hideous and hides her cuteness.

What’s her tattoo? I’m surprised Bunnie didn’t focus on that and ridicule her.

When I was pregnant with Tristan I wore horizontal stripes. I think that pregnant bellies are beautiful so why not make it look a little bigger.

i think its becuase bunnie realized that along with showing his adorible face and laugh in his coming of age as a woman video, he also showed us his own heart tattoo.
