War Without End

hillaryyell

Emboldened by Tuesday's primary victory and the bitter, armed and dangerous voters of Pennsylvania, Senator Hillary Clinton is now rattling her saber loud enough for the whole world to hear. Cower, brown people!

Yesterday she focused her words on protecting Israel: "Whatever stage of development [Iran] might be in their nuclear weapons programme in the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Emphasis ours. Fright ours, too!

Isn't that what nukes do - obliterate? Maybe she was being, um, accurate? I mean, they aren't a weapon of finesse.

Well, we ARE a nation that voted Bush back into the office…we are also a nation that blindly supports this war. I see her comments as pandering to the hillbillies that voted for Bush. She's got to use language that says she's got the balls to drop the bomb in order to seem on par with McCain and split the redneck vote more evenly between the two.

Hello! I don't see what the problem is. I don't want innocent people killed but how many more innocent people will be killed by not dealing with Iran. I don't support Hillary but I agree with her on this. The problem is, she'll say the opposite tomorrow is she thinks it will help her get the nomination.

I really think she's overcompensating to try to win over misogynists who think she'd be too "nurturing" as it concerns foreign policy.

I think it's a bad move, as it comes off to some of us as "crazy".

Agree with Sarah. Does anyone really want (1) a nuclear Iran, or (2) Israel attacked by nukes? How would either of those options be acceptable and not demand a serious response by the US?

Not crazy, not frightening: a state protecting its interests and those of its citizens.

Why is it that Israel can maintain its arsenal of nuclear weapons, but if any of them dadgum Muslim sovereign states even think about asking where they could get the supplies to make a nuclear weapon, all of a sudden we need to obliterate them? I honestly do not understand that sort of thinking.

Clinton pisses me off: this coming from the woman who criticized Obama when he said if he knew terrorists were in Pakistan, he'd send in U.S. Forces without Pakistan's approval. This is what Clinton said in August of last year in response to Obama's statements about Pakistan: "You can think big, but remember, you shouldn't always say everything you think if you're running for president, because it has consequences around the world…We don't need that right now."

I like to compare them to apples:

1.Obama looks good on the outside, but you know he's probably not too ripe

    2. Clinton is likely poisoned on the inside (much like the one that did in Snow White)

    3. McCain has simply been on the grocer's shelf too long and looks like he's about to spoil.

How do you like them apples? I wouldn't make a pie with any of them.

    SARAH and CHEZNAN-
"Obliterating" Iran would not be protecting anyone's interests, not even those of calloused American citizens.
Even through a nonmoral, military perspective, a war with Iran is a mentally deranged idea.
The Unites States should not attack Iran because they simply won't win.
The U.S. won't put in the effort to build a force strong enough to attack Iran. Bombing Iran won't be adequate. One thing the States should have learnt from the Iraq war is that you cannot win a war from the air. You have to occupy. Americans won't do that. Their aggresion will consist of something like launching a strike against Tehran or a so-called Iranian nuclear facility.
You know what Iran will do in response? They'll shoot tankers into the Golf. This will cause a massive economic crisis. Iran will shut down the Persian Golf and the oil prices will go through the roof.
This international crisis will destroy America's reputation once and for all. Nations will resent the Unites States of America.
Do I support Iran's policies? Of course not.
Iran used to be a democracy in the 50s. After years of abuse because of their copious amounts of oil, they have returned to a traditional government. Iran's government is extremely reactionary. It has regressed profusely since the exile of Mosadegh. I would even say it's reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition. But let's not make the mistake of trying to spank Iran into a morally upright country. We should give Iran time to evolve.
Let's not make this into a knock-down-drag-out fight. Iran and the Unites States have so many common interests. Many of America's past enemies are now their closest allies (Japan? Germany?). Iran needs to find its own direction. That's why they call it sovereignty!
And how are you two so certain Iran has nuclear weapons? Can't you tell Ahmadinejad lives to annoy Bush? He aggravates Bush to watch him flame. There is no real evidence that Iran has nuclear weapons.
And don't you realize Israel is not an area for Jewish people to live in serenity? It's a surrogate state. Israel is an ideal place for America to locate military bases to attack the Middle East. And don't you see why middle-easterners have the right to be maddened that more easily kill them? I'm not saying that Iran should bomb civilians. I'm saying that you should stop pretending America is out to protect us all.

both jews and muslims have been living in that area that is today israel for centuries. the land wasnt "taken" but granted through by the british to both israelis and palestinians. israelis accepted palestinians rejected, they started war after war kept on losing and made the situation worse for themselves. it ocnitnues on, with arafat rejecting camp david accords and a palestinian state with hamas being voted into govt in gaza. now look whats happening.
