Dear Internet,

Hey! It's me, Cord.

Sorry to leave you hanging, but I've been quite busy lately. Tax season! or whatever, right? Then I had to go to Trader Joe's, and everyone in NYC knows the lines there are ridiculous! Oh, and then I had to go to Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to donate a kidney to my ill father. Yes, seriously.

Anyway, that's that. I am working from over here for now, but, because Mollygood.com is a banned Web site (Baaaaaaaaaanned in the KSA!), I've got to go through other channels to post.

That's why my pal and managing editor Andrew Belonsky has been popping up on the site.

If you'd like, you can check out my Saudi exploits at Kidney and the Kingdom, a blog I perhaps stupidly named after that one TV show that's become an advertising campaign for a movie.

Be excellent to each other,
Cord

My heart goes out to you and your dad. I have friends who went through the surgery - a husband who donated to his wife - so I know that the donor goes through almost as hard a time after the surgery as the recipient. Please take care of yourself. You sound like a guy who cares about his health, and I'm sure you'll hear this from your doctors, but you're only going to have one kidney for the rest of your life. My donor friend still drinks Mt. Dew, and I want to throttle him.

Cord - Just finished reading your other blog - Kidney and the Kingdom - and I wish you and your father the best of luck and better health.

On a side note, you are indeed a writer and I hope you do pursue other avenues of literature aside from this gossip blog. Your writing skills (both grammar and narration/storytelling) are one of the main reasons I come to this site daily and have forgone all other gossip blogs, as your posts although clever are not ambiguous or clumsy. Since mollygood was closed for the US long weekend, I crumbled and visited another gossip site where I spent five minutes yesterday trying to decipher a post that was trying to be clever, but failed to convey the information clearly.

    Thank you.

No. 14 - you got it right. I don't come here for the gossip… well okay, I do, but it's the quality of writing that keeps me engaged. Please write a book, or endeavor towards so-called serious journalism. It would be avidly enjoyed by at least a few of us.

Cord, best wishes and best of health to you and your father.

Aw, Cord you're such a good person! You're family is lucky to have you. My uncle is going to be on dialysis for the rest of his life because they've pretty much turned him down for transplants. Take care and know that everyone is pulling for you and your dad.

On a different note, seriously consider writing a book or something (but don't give up MG or I won't heart you anymore), you're talent should be spread to the masses - you're far too cantankerous of a person not to spread that joy with the public.

Have a falafel for your homies!

Now I can have a crush on a blogger I've never met, who lives in a different country than me, who is three times as old as me, three times as smart as me, way too hip for my taste in music (how many times will my Aural requests be rejected??), AND gay.
I'm having the worst day with men (well, boys, mostly). I had to tell the asshole who asked me to the prom I'm not going with him like three days before the banquet. And I just found out a dude I'm dating shaves his chest. EEEEEWWWW. And now you're crushing on Bunnieballs, too.

adelaine.jane- Thank you, jane, for being so easily deceived! Trust me, though, I'm underdeveloped for even seventeen. I'm going to feel stupid forever because… a couple months ago, someone asked if I was a fan of Eddie Izzard. I replied: "I've heard of him, but I've never listened to his music." YIKES! And sometimes… SOMETIMES… when I get anxious, I litereally run away from my problems. "Litereally" was a typo, but I'm using that from now on. Yeah, so way to be a lame ass, Ilnaz.

I wholeheartedly welcome you to the kidney donors club, Cord. While I only had to cross the Bay Bridge to San Francisco to donate for my brother five years ago (not nearly as long and involved as your journey) it is still an amazing journey to make. I wish you a quick and uneventful recovery. The donors usually have a rougher time of it than the recipients.

    Take care!
