Benefit of the Doubt

Have we considered that these two might actually be very happy together and excited about their child’s future? And that Scientologist radicals are probably no worse than Christian radicals who are no worse than Muslim radicals who are no worse than Mormon radicals? If not, maybe it’s time we did.

I’m proud to be a rad Jew =)

I actually have considered that they might be happy. But something about him has always creeped me out. I think it’s the teeth.

I don’t think the question of their marriage being legit has anything to do with religious radicalism, but more to do with the distinct possibility that Mr. Cruise may be a gay man, unwilling to come out of the closet, so he hides behind the sham of marriage to various women to try and obscure this fact. That the women are required to pledge allegiance to his religion of choice, to me, is a completely separate issue. I simply don’t think a gay man can be happily married to a woman… no matter what religion they are. Just ask Larry Craig. Well, actually, don’t bother. He would only lie.

Oh Bedbugs. That’s just misinformation. He was just doing a little tap dance. My husband would never hit on a stranger in a bathroom. That’s just crazy talk. My husband loves boobies.

I think all the Hollywood actors who hide behind beards and all the Republican religious right guys who hook up with male prostitutes on the down low, (don’t forget Ted Haggerty, the Queen of Gay Denial) should all join together in a show of solidarity and have a great big love fest. Two extremes coming together in the name of love. What a beautiful thing.

I actually really like them together, and for some strange reason prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s either the influence of the cuteness that is Suri, or the men in the white vans got to me.

i think it’s the way she’s always looking at him like she wants approval. it could also be the way he has to constantly be by her side or holding her hand as if to say “this is my property”. he seems very controlling to me and that’s scary.

He does seem super controlling. Before Nicole Kidman started getting better roles and gained a glimmer of personality it was as if she was under a spell.

Also, the whole idea that he was auditioning women to be his new wife is totes creepy.

I’ve never liked him. It’s always like there’s something off kilter.

I don’t have a problem with religion when it does no harm, but I have a problem with any religion when it does. Most religions have had instances wherein someone has been abused in its name, on either a small or large scale, but with Scientology the abuse part is built in, and because of its structure and secrecy most people aren’t aware of it until they get to that “need to know place” when suddenly they’re being beaten with a bag of oranges a la Angelica Houston in The Grifters in order get rid of some entity that is inflicting a cold.

OK, the last part is hyperbole, not the beating part, but the cold part, sadly…but if people want to willfully subject themselves to abuses without hurting others, cool, otherwise this shit should be in the rule book and people informed before the sign on.
