Jennifer Hudson is blaming her Oscar fashion don't on Vogue's celebrity editor Andre Leon Talley:
Jennifer Hudson, did win big - but lost big, too, because of the much ridiculed metallic bolero Andre Leon Talley made her put on. (Post fashion editor Serena French said it made her look "lost in space.") "Jennifer was kind of sponsored by Talley and Vogue," said one fashionista. "Andre insisted she wear that hideous Oscar de la Renta dress with the awful, awful gold python bolero.
"Jennifer really didn't want to, and so [noted stylist] Jessica Paster got her a beautiful gold Roberto Cavalli custom-made. But when Andre found out, he went ballistic. Moments before she left for the show, there was a power struggle and Jennifer ended up putting his outfit on."
Keep in mind that Jennifer thanked God twice for her best supporting actress win. My thoughts are, instead of blaming one of the most powerful fashion editors working today for the bolero mishap, she should have blamed God for that one, too. She should proclaim that God willed her to don the chunky, metallic jacket because it slightly resembles angel wings.
Don't bite the hand that feeds you, Jennifer. Andre giveth and Andre can taketh away. God didn't put you on the cover of Vogue.

Which one was responsible for the huge mess she changed into after accepting her award, God or Andre?
Chunky jacket for a chunky girl.
Cord, sometimes you are really off the mark. Way to offend every Christian in one fell swoop. In case you didn't watch the E! preshow, Andre ADMITTED to helping her pick her outfit for the Oscars, way before the negative backlash. My guess is that he'll deny it now.
God's grace DID put her on the cover or Vogue AND allowed her to win the Oscar.
So God is in the academy? Thems some interesting film tastes dude has. I mean, An Inconvenient Truth won, so that means it's the read deal I guess. Maybe Al Gore is the modern day Noah.
And yet, Babel and United 93 lost. Whose side is God on?
I'm a Christian and totally unoffended. I think he's right. Blame people when things go wrong, praise God when they go right.
Really, you'd think if God had such say in Academy matters, Passion of the Christ would've won some more awards.
So Andre was responsible for the bolero AND the pocket dress???? Damn him! Damn him to hell!
Eh, you're just mad because you liked her little outfit and no one else did, because it was hideous.
God gave her that pretty voice that got her on the cover of Vogue…but He did not give her that outfit lol.
Count me in the "not offended" camp.
However, I am offended by that jacket, and by Andre in general. (Well, not so much offended as puzzled by his fashion expert status.)
And seriously, she'd better keep thanking God for that gorgeous voice, because WOW, girlfriend was putting me to sleep in both her acceptance speech and her post-Oscar interviews. I'm hoping she was just really nervous and awestruck, and not just completely lacking in personality.
Seriously. She's a big girl and can dress herself. If she didn't like it as much as the rest of us, she shoulda took it off after getting in the damn car.
is there any other way the people at Vogue can shit on Jennifer? she needs to totally cut ties with these clowns. a dress is supposed to complement the wearer — not reflect the ego of the designer. i am sooooooo pissed off on her behalf. Vogue et al suck.
Hey Jennifer if you want payback, get an embarrassing picture of Andre and post it on http://www.paybackisapicture.com
That'll teach him.
The most important thing on God's agenda is deciding the Academy Award winners, and choosing their outfits for the ceremony
Oh god where does one begin? That bolero might have worked on a size O model, but "cropped" is always a baad idea on a full-figured girl. Now it just looks like a badly fitted shrunk-by-the-wash football shoulder pads, instead of perky bullfighter chic.
Own it, bitch.
Oh yeah, and regarding God and the Academy, as Ellen points out, the Academy is run by Gays, Jews and Blacks. And we know how much God hates them…
You're all going to hell…in cropped metallic boleros! J/K
My point was simply that Cord's last sentence is absolutely unnecessary to make his point and I found it offensive because I thank God for all good things that happen in my life.
Regarding her outfit choice, Andre DID pick it out so he's at fault. Yes, she did wear it but I think that anyone who is honest with themselves would have done the same thing. Judging from previous outfits, she clearly doesn't have inherent fashion sense so, if I were her and the fashion editor of Vogue told me to wear something and declared it fabulous, I'd wear it.
