polygamylead

Maybe it’s just because I’m tired of Fergie and eyeliner commercials and American Apparel models and going out and thongs and competition and diets and porno, but I really can’t shake the feeling that these polygamist women from Texas are some of the most beautiful creatures to grace my television in months.

More after the jump.

No. 2 jbonz says:

If they were what they appear to be, yes. There’s something appealing about feminine modesty.
Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that these women are psychologically beaten down by their menfolk to the point that they allow their pubescent daughters to be husbanded out to middle-aged men like livestock. It reminds me of the perpetually abused mother who lets her new boyfriend molest her 13 year old daughter so she can keep him at home.

Jbonz, you said it. Admiring these women is an affront to me as a female. They aren’t shunning excess because they’re better than that; they’re doing it because that’s what they’re told to do. And to laud these shells of human beings for following directions, especially when it comes to allowing their daughters to be violated and traded as marital pawn, is really lame.

Jbonz, Lale, I completely agree! Being married at 13 is absolutely disgraceful. Just because their bodies are ready to make babies doesn’t mean that they are mature enough to properly raise a family, and it’s absolutely wrong to rob them of their innocence and childhood.

I have no problem with modesty and polygamy. The abuse, however, looms much larger on my mind.

What’s up with the Flock of Seagulls hair? On another not, it looks like you could drop kick them in the face, and they’d still have that vacant, submissive stare on them.

I grew up around people, who although, not Mormon, treated women like cattle. I remember one family, in particular, had 14 kids and the dad used to spank the mom in front of them when something like the washing machine would break. He said that it was because of her sinning that it broke. Needless to say, the boys of that family turned out to be abusive as adults. The oldest boy has a wife that’s only 34, and they now have 10 kids(last I heard). He beats the hell out of her all the time, but they are “missionaries” in Mexico, so he gets away with it. The few times I’ve seen her in recent years, she has that same look on her face as these women. Hell, pretty much the same dress too. What people try to do in the name of God makes me ill.

Everybody has it out for these people. I don’t agree with their practices or beliefs, but I’m pretty sure it’s all some of them have ever known, and they must be terrified. Even if you think these women were abused and oppressed by their religion, now the legal system has dragged them out into a strange, alien world and separated them from their children. And this whole time the media, even holier-than-thou Fox News, has been calling them some absolutely horrible things. Life in a cult may be awful, but I’m a little ashamed of the rest of America at the same time.

No. 19 RCDC says:

i think that, while there is truth to the idea that these women are forced to conform to an set standard because of the religion, i have two basic problems with this tack. first, there are people who actively choose lifestyles many would consider repressive. you cannot force someone to adopt it, but you equally cannot force them to leave. a very different community with a similar disconnect from society at large are the Amish and the Mennonites. But when their children are given the chance to leave, and to chose the lifestyle they feel is best, most of them come home. my second, and more ideological issue is, why is it that only women can be repressed by societies? i think savemejeebus had a good point: if you think the women are screwed up, think about what they must be doing to the men.

These women need to be put in jail as accessories to the crime of child molestation, rape, and mental/emotional cruelty. queencrane-you are an idiot and the reason women keep getting away with the “I’m just a week victim” bullshit. There is NO excuse for letting your child be abused. jbonz kind of gets it but off with the sympathy for them. The women are using projection. It’s the typical passive aggressive way women abuse children by letting others do it for them while they stand by. Doing NOTHING!! I have worked in hospitals with children who’s mother have burned them with cigarettes and their fathers haven beaten their teeth out of their heads. Who do you think they cry for? The parent who abused them. It’s nature and all they know. That’s no excuse for anyone to let a child be raped. Got that kids? Hopefully you will ask children if they are being abused if they act out around you. Ninety nine percent of children are abused by family and friends. Most people do not have the integrity to stop it, that’s why we have social services and teachers now are mandated reporters or they LOOSE their jobs. Too many people do not care at all about child abuse in their actions!! These women will swear they love their children and would never, by the love of juses christ, let them be abused. Morons/mormons.

That being said, cases like these are hard because they may not see it as abuse. They’re stupid and it sucks, but there it is. Don’t take that as me saying they shouldn’t be punished. Not everyone who commits a crime is convinced it is wrong, or feels remorse.

Also, fuck you for not reading the entirety of the post where I clearly say don’t take what I said for belief that they shouldn’t be punished. Meaning they should be punished, der.

So, to dumb it down for you, QC didn’t condone their actions, she did, however, recognize that all parties were probably hurting. Notice I never said whether I agreed with her or not, another assumption you made. I was just helping your dumb ass understand. I, by the way, am a firm non-believe, but good job making up what I believe. Please, feel free to make even more ridiculous assumptions, it just shows what an ass you are. So, to reiterate: They should be thrown in jail, they were wrong. That goes with the understanding that they probably miss their kids and their kids miss them. Duh!

When Warren took over, after his father’s stroke, he started implementing all sorts of unbelievable rules like underage marraige, no internet access and definitely no t.v. or basketball (?)(No basketball is just simply inhuman) and made folks get rid of pets.

He also made clothing restrictions more stringent and started a big purge with the young boys and some of the married men.

The purges suck ass, because where are these folks supposed to go? All there relatives are in the compound because of the inbreeding. There is no cousin on the west coast they they could go stay with. There are sons and husbands put out at this prophets will and whim.

This is a scary example of what happens when our constitution is manipulated by an “activist judge”. When a religion, no matter how “crazy” according to our societal norms, is treated unjustly all Americans should be offended. I’m not defending what happened at that compound. When you’re not whet, the intercourse in painful (THANKS, PAPA, YOU SILLY GOAT). If we take the children away from their families, we will cause them as much pain as if we have them raped routinely (ALLITERATION! CUTE!). Do we really want to cause these children pain of any sort? Now, some people may think it is “twisted” to try to get moppets to take pleasure in being sexually assaulted, but they are letting their reason be clouded by their sentiment. With this method, both parties come out satisfied. There is no gift greater than giving a toddler the oppurtunity to act like she is making love to Tuxedo Mask after he shared the secret of his real name being Mamoru Chiba (HOW EXOTIC!) and how his mask is too small to actually conceal his identity (he just wears it “to add some of that mystery chicks dig,” whilst showing off his razor-sharp cheeckbones).
