Gay Star Trek star George Takei is very close to boldly going where few men have gone before: into a loving marriage with another man.

With the California Supreme Court's legalization of gay marriage taking effect yesterday, Takei and his partner, Brad Altman, talked with The Early Show about being in the final stages of wedding planning, a process Takei calls "delicious anguish." Psssst, you've got an escaped apostrophe! Shouldn't it be "weddings"?

That said, yay California! I heard there's a bill coming up later this year that will try to reinstate the traditional definition of marriage. I hope that gets buried, and equal marriage becomes permanent.

So sweet! I was living in Mass. when gay marriage got legalized there and it's awesome to see what's happening in California.

    Equality is awesome.

It's unlikely they'll reinstate "traditional" marriage, in order to do so they have to amend the state constitution, which requires a higher percentage of the vote. Polls indicate that even though a majority (as in more than 50%) of Californians were against gay marriage, there's not enough of a majority that would vote to amend the constitution.

And thus ends my vague lesson on California laws.

Apparently, God doesn't want them married, kittenpaw. But then, I don't suppose you're the type to let God get in the way of your yearning for debauchery, eh?

    And "The Terminator," stopthemadness?

A hundred dollars says Schwarzenegger just lost his Republican fanbase and the next election by landslide. Verstehen Sie das, Liebchen?

Takei's 71, of Japanese descent; Altman 54, of Jewish parentage. Someone's in for a great deal of moolah when Takei ultimately buys the farm. Sign a pre-nuptial agreement, Mr. Takei–it should cover you at least through the November election.
