Gossip, led by hostess with the mostess Beth Ditto, has fans so rabid and annoying that they've done quite the opposite of what fans should and made me completely uninterested in the group's music. But today I stumbled across this YouTube clip of Gossip's performance on last night's Letterman and decided to give it a go, and I must say, I haven't been missing much.
How has it gone unnoticed that Ditto's "soul" vocals are actually just off-key screams? And why hasn't everyone ditched this band for The BellRays, who are one million times better? Lord, I feel old.

you can like both bands, Cord. I thought that was a pretty good live performance. And I am old too, btw, I just don't go around acting like it all the time. Stop being such a grump, Gramps.
Gossip is more pure punk ,the Bellrays is a blues punk band emphasize on blues. One thing they have in common is FAT singers. I like them both.
I want to go to a live show.
The Gossip is amazing… I am a huge fan.
And the BellRays? Not so much. They are good, but nothing to gossip about.

Gossip sucks. The hipsters won't touch them b/c they are too mainstream and the mainstream won't touch them well b/c they sound like crap but not in a pop way.

Totally agree Cord. It's not the off-key screaming that really bothers me tho, it's the vibratto that you could drive a truck through. Sucks that my band is also from Portland and this band gets smoke blown up their asses all the time…
