Definitely trying to make her look 'respectable' to mute the reality of being barely 17 and being a mother who was unmarried at the time of conception (and really, what chance do two teens have at making a long-term relationship work once they've become parents?). Way to make teen parenting look glamorous, successful, and a-okay. And note that the pancake covers any eye bags she may have. (Wonder if she's breast feeding? That might be a good message to send to new moms, actually. If you can breastfeed, it's good for the bebe.)

it's crappy that the magazines are reporting this like it's good news but let's be honest here; jamie lynn is not the first 17 year old to have a baby. i grew up in El Paso, TX and i was the only one of my friends that didn't have a baby by 17. it's easy to worry that a child is going to see this and run out and get pregnant because they think it's cool but if the parents are doing their job they shouldn't have to worry. my parents took the time to explain the difference between right and wrong and explained to me the consequences of having a baby while i was teen so i made sure that i didn't get pregnant. jamie lynn is stupid for getting pregnant but she's a teenager and teenagers do stupid things. both her and her parents should be held accountable. ok, end rant.

Amen, deimos. I was the only one of my friends who graduated high school (with a diploma, not a GED) without getting pregnant. Now I'm the only one of my friends who got married before having kids, my friends all have kids by men who'll never think enough of them to jump the broom. Sad.

Maybe when the teens see how motherhood ages you they will use birth control (give thier babies up for adoption or have abortions).

OK I can't resist posting. I love how people credit her with "taking responsibility". If she was responsible to begin with she wouldn't be in this difficult, challenging, life long situation. It makes me sick to "market" teenage pregnancy. Jaimelynn is in a different financial situation than most but its still horrible to use her as any kind of example. Unfortunately only time will tell how this all turns out..and look at her family example to follow..Not Good

First off, with a name like MAD & DIE, that child is one step away from her aunt Shitney..

Secondly, that Maddie is FUG and totally looks like she will be waiting for that SHORT YELLOW BUS instead of driving in a Limo. Notice Maddie has the family NOSE? Plastic surgery doesn't pass on to your kids.

Well, that's not exactly fair. Everyone knows all newborns are ugly. And my god - give the poor thing a break - she had to come out of a sixteen- year-old chute. Coming out of an older, more wizened chute would have been easier on her poor face.

even responsible teenage girls get pregnant. just because she got pregnant doesn't mean she's automatically a horrible person. i definitely don't encourage teen pregnancy, but a thing to keep in mind is that ANY teenager having sex can get pregnant, birth control or not. that shit is not 100% effective. so you really can't judge someone if you are doing the same thing they did to get pregnant. it just so happens you were luckier than them… and you can't blame someone for that. it's unrealistic to think that in american society today we should expect teens NOT to have sex. and it's unrealistic that they're going to talk to their parents or they are going to ask for birth control, bc that means admitting they are having sex…. and in a world where teens having sex are automatically judged and called a "whore" as they have been on here, i'd see why a teen would be scared to talk to their parents. so really, PARENTS, you need to bring it up with your kids and have an open heart and mind so something like this is less likely to happen to your daughter.
