Golden Calves

We hear word that some oddly popular event happened last night in Los Angeles. We’re not really sure what it was all about, but we’ve got pictures of some of the self-congratulatory, insular men and women in attendance after the jump.

I normally don’t watch the Oscars, but I ended up watching it on an off, mostly to see Falling Slowly played (and win, woo hoo!!) and oogle Daniel Day (who is all sorts of adorable) and Johnny Depp. I did notice that DDL and the kid from Atonement had the best tux-es (sp?) and I did love Renee Zellweger’s sparkley-time. But I went to bed after DDL won.

I think Nicole K is just having issues dressing her pregnant body - but I hate her for her skin. So I watched it in HD, and she looked perfect, then they went to a close up of Cameron Diaz. Ooof, it was like best skin ever, meet awful skin. Such a contrast.

I can’t stand Nicole Kidman, I can’t explain it, I just don’t like her. I thought Jennifer Garner looked the best- pretty flawless.

And of course, Johnny Depp rocked my world.

Marion Cotillard was gorgeous. I love her. And she TOTALLY deserved to win! I had no idea she was that beautiful, though. Good for her. Nice dress, too.

I like her fish dress too. It was one of the few dresses that didn’t seem annoyingly predictable. I just wish that movie she was in was showing in the states. I don’t mind foreign films, you just have to remember to take your readiing glasses. They always put that shit in little white lettering.

La Vie en Rose IS playing in the states, at least is was a week or two ago. I bet they re-release in arthouses after her win. She was gorgeous and so affected by winning. It was really quite a moment.
