Beauty in Strange Places
Our good friend Grady sent us an e-mail the other day with the subject line: "new favorite site (shouldn't be blocked by the saudi kingdom)." Lucky for us and you, it wasn't blocked, otherwise we all might never have come across the Daily Tails of Chase, a blog devoted entirely to the exploits of a permanently disfigured female cat, the titular Chase (at right). You need to go there! It's not exciting – Chase rarely does more than walk on furniture and sit – but neither is it yammering about Obama and McCain and The Love Guru. And sometimes that's important.

Wow. This site almost makes me want to hate people less. *Almost* What? I have something in my eye. Shut your face!
You're a good kitty yes you are, oh yes you are.
That site just made me happy. The owner is my new hero. When I'm not broke any more (and that better be soon, damn it), I'm donating to the local animal rehab center in Chase's name.
I wonder if the kitty looks at the other pets in the house and thinks, "Wow, you're odd looking."
It's nice she's a therapy cat.
I've met this cat :). Chase was found badly disfigured and very close to death and was taken to Chevy Chase Animal Clinic in Lexington, KY.
Dr. Headley, DVM, whom has treated all my pets, took this animal in and even paid out of his own pocket for Chase to have plastic surgery in Tennessee. A wonderful person working there named Melissa took this cat in.
When this hit the local newspapers I went by the clinic and donated some extra things that I had. There was a birthday card there for Chase that I signed and Melissa and Chase have mailed me several times in the past couple of years on Chase's birthday.
This type of kindness speaks volumes about the characters of the people that work (or have worked there as Melissa has since moved to another state with Chase) at this clinic. Dr. Headley typically has several animals running around his clinic. Why? He refuses to euthanize a healthy animal and will keep animals until a suitable home is found.
I cannot speak higher in terms of the amount of compassion I have seen in the staff of Chevy Chase Animal Hospital and it is a blessing that Melissa was chosen as Chase's life companion.
Chase you and Melissa are officially celebrities now!
aren't you cute with your little lion haircut. who's the good kitty? poor little fluffy baby, i just want to squeeze that kitty.
p.s. i LOVE all the kitty posts that have popped up lately!
I love Chase!! Now I'm all teary-eyed at work.
It's even cuter for the fact that it looks like a mogwai
That kitty knows what he's talking about. That bed looks really comfy. And his hair is way more punkish then whatever that models name is.
Awww, Chase looks so happy! :,)
