The Plight Of The Dreads

jasoncastro.jpg

Everyone's favorite dread-headed American Idol contestant isn't just good-looking — he has a heart.

Soft-spoken Jason Castro, a junior at Texas A&M, was inducted into the Aggie Men's Club this past fall — an organization that provides a "social atmosphere of Christian fellowship and brotherhood." They're currently on a trip to Honduras, donating time and money ($14,000) to build homes and orphanages.

TMZ spoke to Chris, the Club's president, who's now in the country's poverty-stricken capital, Tegucigalpa. Chris spoke highly of Jason — saying Jason would likely have joined the 14 guys who are in Honduras right now … but for Idol.

TMZ is trying to spin it like Jason chose Ryan Seacrest over the orphans, because that's what TMZ does. Our obsession with Jason has made us blind, however, so we just fell more in love.

chelsea: It's not PR. Most colleges, universities and high schools in the US have service clubs, and they usually raise money all year then go to some poor country or some poor area in the US and offer their time and labor to help with whatever project they're involved in. $14,000 is a decent fundraising effort for one of these clubs, and it will probably go into a larger fund.

Publicity is publicity whether or not it reaches the intended target. (Also, are you able to track web traffic for MollyGood? Because if not, I don't think you know who comes here. Or have you polled the entire country?).

You could have easily said "I know people who give money" or "some people give money." But you didn't. You wanted to brag, and feel good and let the reading public know that you are a better person than Aggie's Mens Club. Even if it wasn't publicity for your store, it was publicity for you.

It sucks when something you do on a personal level gets misinterpreted, doesn't it?

Don't misunderstand me, I think charity is great, and I applaud you for doing whatever you do. And if you want to discuss it and get people involved, that is wonderful. But that is the point, every drop in the bucket helps, large or small. It is disgusting that you say these people aren't giving enough. Do you not understand that these are kids in college who maybe have a part-time job. It is pretty pathetic that you compare them to yourself, someone who, as you have said, is a successful, full-time, business owner. That is really very lame.

Maybe it is a language thing. First it was hyperbole, of course you know something about me. Second, I was clearly talking about beliefs I hold, not where I live.

And this is all a way for you to IGNORE the points I have made. Ignore the fact that something that was not an insult was taken as one. The fact that you took it to be an insult tells ME a lot about YOU.

And, you were wrong about where I live, which you would know if you used your site tracker properly.

Also, at #43, you said that it "wasn't much" to be smarter than I am. How can you say that if you believe I was a good student, etc. etc.?

Here is the thing, I have TOLD you it wasn't an insult, that it wasn't meant to be an insult. I tried to correct myself, or explain what I meant to you. If you are still holding on to it, that is your problem, not a problem with what I have said. And it is amazing that you don't even consider the possibility that it isn't what I wrote, but the fact that you don't speak english as a first language that could cause confusion. I admit that I have taken things differenlty than meant, in Spanish - and once the confusion is clear, I apologize and move on. You don't seem to be able to do so. And of course, this is a way for you to confuse the issues and avoid admitting you were wrong.

Great, you were a good student. The point is you basically called me an idiot and then later, when decribing me, called me something much smarter than an idiot. You are disingenuous.

Honey I don't low blow, not like you.

So you have no way of knowing if something was me or not. Anyone could have clicked on your name, and you know it.

Not backing down isn't a badge of honor. Especially when you are wrong.

Why shouldn't I refer to things you have said? ou refered to something I said yesterday? Are you no longer accountable for things you said last week?

I don't know what I should be moving on from. Each time you deside to go apeshit and insult me, it is for a disagreement with another post.

And before you say I disagree with you on everything, think carefully, there are many posts where I don't say anything about what you have said at all.

The ENTIRE UNITED STATES. Are you saying that if you get a hit from the US, off a site in the US that many people FROM THE US read, it HAS to be me who clicked? That is illogical - from someone who said logic isn't my strong point.

You just never admit you are wrong, never. That is not a good character trait.

Here is the thing: I am rarely less than civil with you, and only after you go crazy and insult me. So I don't really need to start anew. And I believe people need to be accountable for what they say in the past. So when you tell me I have "insulted" you, usually when I disagree, I feel perfectly comfortable bringing up your real insults, past, present and future.

It is like you want to "make peace" so you don't have to be accountable for all the junk you have said on here, and all the times you have been wrong.

@117: here is how I see it. Why would you tell me that you only get 50 hits from the US? As an explanation as to why you were justified in thinking it was me looking for my name, on your site. As if the stubborn way you stuck to that was justified. That is an excuse.

Arguing about this is ridiculous. I don't even care. I think the only reason you brought it up again was to avoid talking about the fact you read into things I said and called me jealous and other things. And even after I explained myself, you refuse to apologize for the things you said about me, or even admit that you took it wrong.

I don't know why you have this opinion about me, but let me set this straight: I like that you are here. You are a different point of view and funny. I like that. So much more than different point of view, and jerky (like #39 here (unless that was a joke I didn't get). I don't think that people should always agree. (No one person has all the answers, and I think by arguing them out everyone learns.) I think there are a lot of things we don't agree on. But I also think people can disagree and still, at the end of the day, be cool with eachother. Especially about celebrity gossip.
