Progress

Now that there's no more election (or Tina Fey or Amy Poehler), Saturday Night Live got back to the basics this weekend: Surprise celebrity guest stars and men in women's clothing. For this episode (featuring adorable host Paul Rudd), Justin Timberlake showed up to seem likable for five minutes during a skit involving a Beyonce music video shoot. The former boy bander has become quite the tool as of late, but he always manages to be fairly awesome when he's on this show, so we approve.

I didn't really think that skit was that funny..and I am OBSESSED with Beyonce.

I once drunkenly defended her which ended with me crying alone in a basement, not one of my better moments.

Justin Timberlake is one of those types who would get a small chuckle about one thing and then keep repeating it over and over.

I hate that he makes me laugh so hard. He pulled off the episode recap thing pretty well. Craphead.

Hey I have a question. Did Beyonce lipsynch the entire Single Ladies song, or did she sing along with a track?

I thought the whole thing was that professionals have good breath control and they can sing and dance at the same time. Is it always lipsynching? Didn't Ashlee Simpson get slathered and barbecued for doing that? How come it's ok for performers who actually dance?

JT never ceases to impress me when he's on SNL. Proof that one can, in fact, be both a douche AND make me laugh; the two are not mutually exclusive.
I should also point out that just seeing a douche on the shelf at the p h a r m a c y makes me laugh, as well.

So I guess ALL douches are funny to me, actually.

I always love when JT is on SNL. I always think he is really funny and I'm not even a JT fan.

Paul Rudd makes me think impure thoughts.

Sar, if you're talking about the set she performed, she sang live but was accompanied by a track in places. Dance-heavy routines generally interweave pre-recorded segments with live singing. Ashlee Simpson's AFAIK wasn't a dance routine and its considered bad form not to sing live when the only thing you have to do is sing - and its esp bad form when you're all kinds of fail at even that.

Thansk Des. I think that was my guess before, but I just wondered if people knew something I didn't know.

I would do bad things to Paul Rudd if I were given the chance. And JT. Very very bad things….

Maybe it was just me, but I felt like this SNL ep. relied on "gay jokes" a lot. Anyone else notice this, am I crazy? I put it in quotes, because I don't think they were "jokes" per se. The recap on Weekend Update was pretty funny though.

I definitely see that Lisa, and promptly place the blame on Andy Samberg.

SNL will win so much respect for me if this week they do a much-overdue skit making fun of Beyonce. (But, I guess they'll have to wait until they have a black woman host or hire a black woman for the cast. Seriously, why are there no black women and few black men in the cast?) Her ego has really gotten out of hand. If she were as good as she thinks she is, well then, she'd be pretty damn good. But, come on, she's ridiculous. She didn't deserve to be anywhere near Paul Rudd. (okay, maybe a smidgen of my dislike for her is coming from jealousy that Paul Rudd pretty much dance-humped her, but she still mostly sucks and steals her songs.)
