Money Right; Sense of Decency Shot to Shit

We've said before that Kanye West is an insufferable egomaniac whose work is often incongruous with the pride he has in it. If in the past you've disagreed with our assessment, look no further than the rapper's Grammy acceptance speech last evening to offer validity to our naysaying.

Throughout three minutes of bloviating, West tells fellow musician Common that if he wanted to win the award he shouldn't have released his record this year, demands that "wrap up" music be silenced so that he can continue speaking and plainly says that Amy Winehouse and himself are the only musicians deserving of the award for album of the year (Herbie Hancock later beat them both out). It's unbearable, and his mother passing doesn't give him a Dickhead License. To quote our roommate, "All night I didn't want anyone to win, I just wanted him to lose."

After the jump, the best moment of last night's Grammys, when country singer Vince Gill responded to Kanye.

This was the post I've been waiting for. His acceptance speech was despicable. I could go on and be more snide and mean, but I'll wait to see how everyone else responds before taking the gloves off.
All I'll say is, Vanity Kills.
Kudos to Vince Gill for his "Oh, snap!" moment.

So, he doesn't get an award and he bitches. Then he does get one and still bitches. He doesn't get his way and he has a girly hissyfit. And then he wins and still has a girly hissyfit an insults fellow nominees? I would hate to have sex with this guy. No matter what you're never going to have an orgasim and not only will he not care but he's also not going to shut up.

He probably pulls a Patrick Bateman move and stares at himself and kissing his biceps while doing the horizontal mambo. I can't reference American Psycho without a photo of shirtless Bale.

And you know he's listening to Huey Lewis. All the true crazies love, " Hip to be square". But I have to admit I'd be sad if he took his crazy down a notch.

It's a shame he didn't give props to Daft Punk for "helping" him sell so many albums. Because if it wasn't for 'Stonger' would he have won?

Kanye said he was appreciative, and laughed at the joke vince gill made. I still like Kanye, he's awesome. Obviously I'm in the minority here, but that's cool too.

I couldn't even bring myself to listen to the video, only because I knew the kind of tripe that would spew forth. I only listened to Vince's response and I only wish he would have been a little meaner.

Kanye West is a self-absorbed, no talent, waste of space.
Personally I don't see why we had to be subject to his 'dedication' to his mother. Really, he's not the first person to lose someone close to him - he wont be the last.
I mean the woman lost her life having plastic surgery - it's not like she ran into a burning building to save a family.
Why should he be more important than anyone else who lost someone?

That's a tough one, juju. Christina's boobs could smother Nicole to death, but then again, Nicole was a former junkie so she's hardcore. Plus, she's dating a faux punk rocker.

Kanye isn't a "no talent waste of space," but he's a sampler, so um, great job picking music someone else perfected? Oh and the song to his mother was a bit much.

Ok, I sort of hate/love Kanye. I mean, having "you would do anything for a Klondike" as a lyric? Awesome. Not just rapping about hos and money? Awesome. Light up sunglasses? My fave thing evar. Pathological hubris? Awful. Some woman-hating and I'm-so-rich-lifestyle lyrics? Awful. Treating almost everyone like they are idiots and/or beneath you? Awful.

I am glad he had a sense of humor about Vince Gill. It was a crapshoot there. But how could you be mad at Vince Gill?

I hate to say it, but Kanye plays into stereotype so much that he looks like the new Flava Flav to me.

And his public persona makes his music unlistenable to me. His mother did a shit job of raising a human being.
