What, Me Worry?

jennabushweddingpics

Here, President George W Bush poses with daughter Jenna at her Texas wedding on Saturday. Over 200 friends and relatives looked on as the bride, in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown, was married to Henry Hager, an MBA candidate and son of Virginia's GOP head.

How these fucking people sleep at night is beyond us.

George should have put his money where his mouth is and refused to pay for a wedding to a man who has not served at least one tour of duty in Iraq. Now THAT would be supporting the troops.

So I'm guessing now is not the time to get into my wedding details and how well I sleep.

Have some class! You want to be painted with the same broad brush as YOU'RE parents? We should all be judged by our personal actions. Jenna Bush seems a strong, giving, committed person. We can't pick our parents.

nospam, it's "YOUR parents". And I point you to what Ruby said at 1. Jenna has just married a guy who, just like her daddy, supported an unpopular war but was sure to avoid serving in it. Cuz, you know, going to foreign countries to die for oil is peasants' work.

Everyone can avoid serving in war. There is no draft and we have a volunteer military. And how do you know that her husband supported the Iraq war? You think all Republicans support the war or even all people in the Bush administration supported the war? Come on! I know you're not THAT naive.

Henry Hager was an aide to Karl Rove and is a staunch Republican. I think you're being naive, nospam - and an apologist for those who remain neutral on a great moral issue. As Dante once wrote, the worst place in hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in a time of great moral crisis.
If Hager's against the illegal and immoral invasion and occupation of a foreign country, let him say exactly that. Otherwise, he's lending support to war criminals.

I think she looks absolutely beautiful and I'm not sure what guilt people should have over getting married. This is a wedding, and has nothing to do with politics or the war or anything like that. Hate W's politics all you want, but he's not being President here - he's just being a proud dad. And I like Jenna - I think it is pretty cool that she had a private, low-key affair at home instead of the White-House-Princess-Media-Fest thing she could have had. It's tough not to be happy for her - or anyone else on their wedding day for that matter.

I agree that you can't pick your parents.

We can ALL sleep at night because our country is protected. Like him or hate him, Bush has prevented another 9/11… and the nutjobs who masterminded that one want another one SOOOO bad. Think Clinton, Gore, Baldwin (ha) and their ilk would have the balls to do that? Please. And the "war for oil" argument is a little played. We went into Iraq to stop a dictator who was killing his own people and threatening the rest of the world. The UN kept threatening to do something, but we're the only one who can. It's amazing how many clueless Democrats are now blabbering that we need to go into Darfur and "do something." How is that different from Iraq? And why didn't anyone get their panties in a bunch when Clinton invaded Bosnia, a sovereign country, without bothering to get approval from anyone? Get a clue, idiots. Pick up a history book or, better yet, stop believing the media morons who chant "Bush and Cheney are evil" ad infinitum. You can either spend your time whining and shouting at the rain, or you can actually get off your ass and contribute something.

wow martin what complete dumbass you are. first of all who gives the United States the right to "save" anyone? as flawed and corrupt as it might be, it is presumably the job of the UN to address the international community and those who violate the universal declaration of human rights, not the US acting unilaterally. this is neo-missionary work at its finest. what if i decided that i wanted to save you from yourself because i think i'm morally superior, and decided to do so by force? acts of violence are acts of violence, no matter how wrapped up in rhetoric and propadanda they are.

even buying your completely misguided, borderline racist, western-centric argument, you will henceforth need to "save" the following nations (based on human rights abuses against their own people):
    1. somalia
    2. burma
    3. congo
    4. saudi arabia
    5. china
    6. sudan
    …the list continues.
the US picks its "battles" aka colonies with purpose. why pick iraq? there was oil and unfinished daddy issues. why serbia? because they're white, and they make for a better photo op, and it was easy. why doesn't anyone give a shit about myanmar (before the cyclone) or sudan? because the us has nothing to gain from invading those countries.

le sigh. anyway, no one's going to read this, but sometimes…

Good Times -you said it so much better than I could have! Martin and realitytvaddict are the morons. When will we ever recover from the complete mess Bush has made? It's going to take years (if ever) for U.S. to gain back the respect we once had around the world.

    No. 25 Ana says:

Complete mess huh? So what would you call another 9/11 attack?

And good times- you ask why invade Iraq? The invasion of Iraq probably was a mistake, and certainly its execution was disastrous. But a unilateral and precipitous withdrawal by the United States at this point would not be in anyone's interest. The debate is over whether the invasion was a mistake in the first place.

And to answet your question the U.S. invaded to change the psychology of the region, which had a low regard for American power. It also invaded to occupy the most strategic country in the Middle East, one that bordered seven other key countries.

The Bush administration would not go to war in Iraq because it saw it as a great idea, but because its options were to go on the defensive against al Qaeda and wait for the next attack or take the best of a bad lot of offensive actions

So lacking good options, the administration chose the best of a bad lot.

And in regards to this "Bush lied" bs. Bush's claim that Saddam Hussein was developing WMD was a mistake, not a lie. Bill Clinton said the same thing when he was president, as did every major Western intelligence agency at the time of America's invasion.

Well, I'm glad to see that she picked a date close to Mother's Day. This way her husband won't forget his anniversary.

I always recommend to the beautiful ladies (that ask me) that are wafting on the sweet, warm breeze of true love:

Pick a wedding date that corresponds to some other holiday that the nation advertises to exhaustion. That way, he will have a memory trigger, and you'll not get your feelings hurt.

True love needs some help and a nudge at times. ;-)
