if you think ladies are such idiots for wearing makeup, stop judging ladies like Katherine Heigl who walk down the street without it … oh, yeah, you were just criticizing the cigarette, right?

Jessi, you took the words right out of my mouth.

We're calling bullshit on you, Cord. Girls, stop wearing that evil makeup…but only if you're already pretty without it. The rest of you uglies, just stay home to keep from offending everyone with your sparse eyelashes and uneven complexions.

    Feh.

I don't believe I said anything about makeup in that link to the Heigl photos. At most, I alluded to the fact that she looked bad. The piece I linked to certainly mentions makeup, but there's a reason this section is called "Lowest Common Denominators."
    Best,
    Cord

She doesn't look bad in those pictures - she simply lacks makeup. Which is why it seems rather hypocritical. I understand the "lowest common denominator" factor, but you were basically agreeing with them.

Well, whatever. Thanks for the prompt response.

An ex once said to me, "You'd look really fucking hot if you wore make-up."

I replied that he'd look really fucking hot if he had more hair on his head than he had on his back.

    We parted ways.

So, in honor of hate in general, here's the DUMP CORD petition:

I'm sure John Santos would write something cleaver about urinating on Cord, but I'm more of a scat gal myself.

BTW–Why can't I use an exclamation point at the end of my name anymore?

    It's not nerdz. It's NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDZ!

The exclamation point makes it. Otherwise it's just sad.

I'm calling BS as well. Most women don't wake up looking like dewy-faced, natural beauties.

Every morning at 6:30, I stagger out of bed, look in the mirror, and wince. My hair is fro'ed out, my skin tone is uneven, and my skin is horrendously oily. It takes a little bit of tinted moisturizer (oil-free, of course) and some Benefit mascara to make me look semi-human.

I only get 2-3 days a month where I wake up looking cute. Otherwise, I'm spending 2-3 minutes in front of my mirror taming my hair and my skin.

I'm not going to go the John Santos route, but frankly, most women - Heidi Klum and Elisha Cuthbert included - don't look all that great without a team of stylists and a spackling of foundation. Take a look around, and you can find far less flattering photos of other celebs.

I hope you were only posting that link because Katie Heigl is sanctimonious and opportunistic.

I agree that it's unfair to post pictures of celebs out doing random normal things and go "OH! Look how HORRIBLE she looks while she is at the airport or running to the corner store for milk!" The problem to me is that there is never any context for these kinds of pictures–maybe she looks a little puffy and blah because she's been crying, or she isn't feeling well. No one can look perfect allllll the time–make-up or no.

I'm hoping that Cord was referring to her very cranky expression, rather than her un-made-up face.

But the reason Heigl looks "bad," Cord, is because she isn't wearing any makeup. Her body looks fine. Her clothes are unassuming. Her expression is neutral. She's just not working a face full of MAC there.

And we're calling you on it because, just a few posts earlier, you were telling women to throw off the oppressive chains of the cosmetic industry because we all looked "perfect" without the stuff.

So which is it? Do continue to try to be "Photoshop perfect" or do we ditch the mascara and concealer and reveal our natural (flawed) faces to the world? Because if you're giving us carte blanche to be pasty, zitty, and oily sometimes, you can't turn around THE SAME DAMNED DAY and say "Sheesh, she looks terrible."

Unless you enjoy being called a hypocrite…

wow, gee, we're so sorry for misinterpreting a statement that seemed pretty direct and pretty directly about KHeigl's looks … but I guess if you were just alluding to the "fact" that she looked bad and not actually making the direct statement that she looked bad, then it's all cleared up

I can still throw all my makeup away! thank God for men like you who liberate us!!
