Mariah Carey kicked off Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series with a semi-lip-synced performance and a dose of her diva demands. The awkwardness kicks off right away as her backup track begins singing before she is ready; then, later in the performance, she tells her backup singer (or is it a recording?) to stop singing her part. Only Mariah.

Well it was much better recovery than a little hoe down jig and quickly running off the stage. She did sound pretty good when she started singing.
That was not lip singing. I thought all "pop" stars sang over back up tracks and the chorus is normally the backup track w/them singing over it. she was singing.

No, she wasn't lip synching. When you have your own vocals on backup, you've got to have a track. Give her a break-she sang the majority of the song. Name 5 other "singers" who do that on a regular basis. I dare ya.
Hey at least she was singing! I thought it was pretty funny that she threw in "Baby, stop singin' my part" in there like that, like it was part of the song. I just wish we got to see the temper-tantrum she threw back stage after. You KNOW it had to be HUUUGE!

Unless she pre-recorded the exact performance, it was definitely live. Unless you're performed, you can't grasp how truly impressive a musician she is. Taste aside, she has a remarkable voice and is very serious about her art. Y'all a bunch of bitter no-talent haters!
