Shocking Stuffer

nasniggeralbum

BOOM! There it is, front and center. Try finding this beautiful thing at Wal-Mart. (You will not be able to.) But who cares? Fuck Wal-Mart's morality.—it's a put on. They're just afraid of the black man's dick.

Addendum: Surprising as it may be, we are not being sarcastic. Nas is great and so is this record.

did i miss something? walmart is afraid of the black man's dick? really? i would assume you won't find this album there because they don't want to be sued for having racist material in their store. Nas is so tacky for doing this. people go on and on about how that word is offensive and hurtful and then he uses it to get publicity for his album. how can we erase a word that's hurtful if people use it for fun and personal gain all the time?

end rant

Why would Walmart be afraid of an album called Nagger? I don't get it.

It'll get him talked about for sure. The only thing is that covers like this worry me, as I automatically assume that they are there to disctract us from a severely mediocre album!?!

P.S. LOL… Walmart having morals, when they sell guns to schollkids? ROTFLMAO

Although I think the word "nigger" should only be used when discussing how it should no longer be used, I'm excited for the album. But if some college student tries to convince me his lyrics should be studied in unniversitites again, I might just have to get myself a gun.

it's fine if you think the album is great cord but if you think it's ok for NAS to use that word for his album then you can't bitch when other people use it. either it's ok for everybody or it's not ok for anybody, making exemptions to the rules just screws up the race issue even more.

Where would anybody even buy this? Are there even record stores anymore? I just can't remember the last time I saw a Sam Goody. Can you buy this on itunes?

The album just makes me fell pissy. I guess he's going to go with the excuse he's using to provoke thought and discussion. Whatever. Why couldn't he just go and get arrested for drunk driving?

Maybe I'm playing devil's advocate, who knows, but I can see how there are different meanings and uses to every word, and it can depend on the spirit the person is bringing to it. Would it be okay for Nas to call his album Nigger if he said "As an artist, I want to bring attention to the way in which issues of race are twisted and glossed over in today's commercialized rap and hip hop environment, by calling attention to the racist characterizations that are perpetuated by many contemporary artists, who are nonetheless more socially accepted than this album–all while simultaneously reducing the commercializability of my album, as retailers attempt to demonstrate their anti-racism"?

Hope that makes sense. I do think there is a way to use the power behind words in a positive way. Like how the feminist movement has tried to reclaim the words "bitch" and "cunt", while they LGBTQ movement reclaims "dyke", "fag", etc. Of course there are still hurtful ways to use all these words, but there is something to be said for reclaiming their power as well.

Just throwing it out there… I really hope that all makes sense. I don't know if that's where Nas was going with that, or if it's just a publicity stunt after all. Just my thoughts.

Back to work, janice!

I am very sensitive to racism and I think it's fine. I have no problem with it.
KD Lang can name an album DYKE if she wants, and Pink calls herself PINK for christ's sakes, which is total slang for vagina, etc. Erasure could name an album "Fag", and I could name one "Dego" or "Wop" if I wanted to.

NOFX NAMED THEIR ALBUM " WHITE TRASH, 2 HEEBS & A BEAN " (They are one white guy, 2 jews & a mexican) AND THAT WAS FINE. SO WHAT THE FUCK?

maury kills brain cells. I saw Jerry Springer was on the other day. I was truly shocked. I'd thought they'd run out of married cousins.

Did you not just rant a few topics back about Kanye West's incomprehension of race, and argue that he didn't care about black people because he said he doesn't want his credit to look Black? Now you're praising Nas' , and accusing Wal-Mart of being afraid of black dick.

LMAO

So, if you call something Black, whether it be credit, food, or music, you are a bad representative for the Black Race, but if you call your album Nigger, you are great.

I think you answered your own question. You are a chirping prattling twit.

Yeah I remember some posts about how Nas is a tool for calling his album Nigger and this and that. Maybe you changed your mind because it's getting good reviews. Who knows.

Nas knows what he's doing. So does Kanye. They will be all the richer for it.

To everyone who thinks Nas is a racist or that this is just publicity, was it the same when the book "Cunt" by Inga Muscio came out? Was she a misogynist who was trying to court controversy?

Few people want to admit that Nas might be intelligent (a smart rapper, wait, aren't they all black?), socially concious and extremely talented. I suppose it's easier to lament "Take it in Blood" then it is to explain and revere "I Give You Power."

anyway, it seems to have started a dialogue, i'm sure he didn't intend for that to happen though, him just being a dumb, thug racist.
