Cruise No Longer Cruising

tomcruisevalkyrie

Valkyrie, the film in which Tom Cruise plays a Nazi who plots to kill Hitler, is reportedly so bad it’s had its release date changed twice. Originally slated to premiere in June, the movie was then bounced to October before arriving at its current position, February 2009. The truth behind the repositioning of Valkyrie has yet to be released, but perhaps it’s because the studio is finally realizing audiences might have a problem with the already cultish Cruise portraying a scheming Nazi.

First of all… are we surprised? Second of all, that picture is terrifying. It’s like a glimpse into a possible future, a really fucked up 1984ish future. This is what will happen if Scientology gets its way. A nation united under Tom Cruise.

Nice to see Cruise’s PR stunt of a movie failing.

I got half way through the trailer and couldn’t watch it anymore.
Two things: it was boring and Tom Cruise is in it.
He’s poison to me now.

I wish someone could hate tom cruise for a reason other than his religion. Seriously, it’s not like he’s a horrible actor, I think he’s hot, his kids are cute, so he’s got “issues” who doesn’t?

Maria, I don’t think a reasonable person would argue with the obvious observation that Cruise is entitled to believe in Dianetics/$cientology. But you should know that he’s a spokesperson for an organization that makes a standard practice of trying to harass, intimidate and litigate its critics into silence. Google “operation freakout” for an example of what this “church” has done. It’s Scientology practices that piss people off, and Cruise constantly works to put a friendly shine on those practices.

I will always LOVE Jerry Maguire, no matter what, that movie was just great.
My dislike doesn’t come 100% from his religion, which sounds more like a scam than anything else. It comes from his spouting off on psychiatry, when the SOB didn’t even finish high school. Maybe he never had someone with a mental illness in his family, but after seeing first hand the changes that come can about from counseling and medication, it just blows my mind that someone can think it’s all bullshit.

Hey Tom Cruise, if you’re supposed to be a Nazi, why don’t you have a German accent?

Hollywood pisses me off.

I’m curious about the scientology ad on this website. What’s that about?

and to add to Run-DMS:

Scientology is just a glorified pyramid scheme. The people at the top have it good, but the plebes are like slaves and live in weird dorms where they’re not allowed out. I have met some who’ve lived to tell about it!

This trailer is creepy - plus, Tom Cruise is not at all believable as a German. Where is his accent? Furthermore, shouldn’t they be speaking in German, for it to be believable? I never understood why Hollywood companies think they can plausibly tell stories inside other cultures without using the native language. This movie looks like a load of crap, funded by Scientology freaks.

Why does it seem (to me anyway) he always has to be the hero. That just pisses me off. I’d like to see him as the big loser that he is. Self-righteous asshole.

No. 14 HI HO... says:

Cruise’s problem is that he’s trying too hard. Lately, he’s been portraying characters who are powerful and/or positioned to be the hero/savior; since he’s been using Scientology as a cloak for this attitude, it’s not helpful.

Rain Man and Jerry Maguire are my favorite Cruise films because he portrayed men who were up against it but learned that other things, like love and family, are more important.

And Cruise seriously need to start acting like a movie studio executive; he needs to create other product besides star vehicles for himself.
